I had a huge issue with mass effect 1 on pc, in that i could never even get it to install. however, i decided to take a risk with ME2 and bought it right when it came out. It worked perfectly. ran smooth, never crashed, and was an awesome freakin game. i bought all the dlc's and have played through multiple times with all the dlc's up to and including overlord. After that i didnt play for about 6 months. 3 days ago, i bought Shadow broker, arrival, and appearance pack 2, totaling to about 15$. when i try to play the game, it now performs horribly. i cant target doors or containers, and it now lags so horribly that i cannot even survive the first 5 minutes of the game because i can't effectively target anything.
This is beyond infuriating.
I'm running the game on the lowest possible graphic settngs. I have tried optimizing and defragmenting my hard drive, have freed up 200 gigs of memory by deleting games i dont play anymore, opened up my computer and gone crazy with canned air to get the dust out in case its an overheating issue, and i have tried the affinity fix for multicore processors. nothing works.
PLEASE HELP ME.... otherwise i just burned 15$ that i could have spent on groceries, or a month of gametime on the upcoming old republic... I want mass effect 3, but im not going to bother with it if this is consistently what happens with bioware games.
I can't find anyone else with this issue and its driving me nuts

A great deal of the issue with targeting containers and doors had to do with frame rate issues, and the laggy play also sounds like a frame rate issue with your card. Initial checks would be have you changed/upgraded drivers recently?? If so roll back to previous version and try again, if you haven't then try latest driver for you card. The next issue would be heat issues with your card, what temps are your CPU and GPU running during the game, a temp monitoring program would be a good idea. Visual checks on your fans to make sure they are all running when the game is on, otherwise powering up the game with the side of the case open so you can put eyes on the fans. Also do you have any mod programs that overclock your graphic cards and if so put it back to stock and see if difference made. Update all drivers if haven't recently and ck for any Vista upgrades, sound cards, and Vid cards will be first checked, if you have updated real recently roll back.
