David Gaider said all epilogues are rumors and hearsay. Your epilogue obviously was based on false rumors.

YO THIS IS ME WAVING MY HAND :wizard:

And what do you want to do about it? If the Writer Team said they need Cullen because he is important for the story, than he never was Greagoirs replacement. It's simple as that. The gamers can either accept it or not.

Obviously, but personally one of the main reasons I dislike DA2 so much is due to all the retcons they are doing.

And for me things like this ruins the story, not makes it, obviously not the writers direct problem if I like it or not, but its driving me away from DA.

There is no time frame for the epilogues. What is stopping Cullen from returning to Ferelden and taking over as Knight-Commander? Did he get killed in the last battle? I'm a little fuzzy.

Also, don't care. This type of thing is to be expected. Raising a stink is only going to persuade BioWare to take out epilogues and take away your ability to dispatch any NPC of note. They already did the first thing and you really couldn't touch a lot of NPC's in DA2. If you want those things back, then learn to let things go.

Well the epilogue slide says "once the Tower was rebuilt." A decade(or more) really isn't at all a realistic estimate of how long it would take to do repairs to the Fereldan tower. Also, it is fairly reasonable to assume that the many Circles of Thedas are in revolt currently, from the point in time that DA2 ends at.

Secondly, I vehemently disagree with your approach to issues in the game. "If there's a problem, just shut-up and pretend it didn't happen, or Daddy Bioware will punish you in future games." If a game has an issue, it needs to be addressed, not swept under the rug. How are games ever going to improve if people follow your advice and never bring up their flaws??

Some flaws are unavoidable and I think it behooves gamers to be more understanding. Origins was the start of a franchise, even if they had vague plans for a sequel, there was no guarantee that they would get it.  Origins grants the player a lot more freedom to screw around with the Dragon Age world because at that stage it was a standalone game and the epilogues didn't matter because there was no sequel for your decisions to carry over to.

But now there is a sequel, and more concrete plans for an entire series. The writers have to start looking at the bigger picture and if that means resurrecting Leliana or moving Cullen to Kirkwall, then those are exremely minor sacrifices to make. I understand feeling somewhat betrayed when a franchise you love goes in a direction you don't like, but Dragon Age is just getting started and I find it hard to believe that some people are so invested in the outcome they got (out of the many possible) that they would raise hell about a few inconsistencies that are actually quite small.

I don't know if I'd call what I'm doing "raising hell"- if you look at my original post you'll see that I was more surprised at the direct contradiction rather than raging at the Dev's about it. I agree with pretty much everything you said except for Leliana's death/resurrection being a "minor" inconsistency.

Don't get me wrong, if Gaider and his team needed to bring her back, they needed to bring her back- I'm not going to go rail about it, but I do empathize with those who feel it to be a fairly major retcon. DG said we never knew if she actually died but from what I hear you cut her head off- so it would be pretty weak to claim she didn't actually die.

Anyhow, like I said, agreed with most everything you said.
