Nice to meet you guys,

I was wondering if it was possible to simply not choose a second specialisation in Origins in the hope of keeping an extra specialisation point for Awakening.

I'm playing a high dex dwarf noble rogue and wanted to make him tough as nails. Legion Scout looks like the specialisation to have for both RP and gameplay purposes. But I just can't bring myself to give up the added backstab damage potential Shadow brings.

Since assassin's backstab bonus is dependent on my cunning score, it doesn't seem to be particularly attractive. Keeping in line with what I originally intended for the character's abilities, I've made him a duelist.

I'm playing on easy though, so go ahead and mock me all you want. Kotor spoiled me and I'm still learning. I really really wish I played baldur's gate right now, I see so much tactical potential but I'm horrible at it. I really want that dragonbone cleaver too.

dragonbone cleaver for your rogue? its two handed :S

anyway on topic. just go with assassin, the damage gained, even from dex build is pretty nice. When you get to Awakening you can deffo buy respec tomes, im pretty sure at the beginning of the game, so i wouldnt worry about it :)

In Vigil's Keep courtyard in Awakenings, Herren sells a tome called Manual of Focus which completely strips you of all your points and lets you reassign them wherever you want. You can't change your appearance or your class, but everything else is yours to redo. No need to save that extra spec point!

Thank you for allaying my fears !

I wanted the Dragonbone cleaver for a second playthrough with a warrior, but the achievement is obviously out of my reach for my current abilities.

You shouldn't have too many problems. Both Awakenings and Witch Hunt are considerably easier than Origins (not Golems of Amaaarrragh though. But then it is optional).

I could finish Witch Hunt with half of my brain removed its that easy, and thats on hard. Imported a level 6 2hand warrior and it was waaaay too easy after finishing GOA just before, which in comparison is a nightmare.
