Just wondering... Don't they know each other from Ferelden's Circle of Magi?

I remeber Cullen being quite personal to the mage Origin, at least the female one.
Anders also claim to recognize Amell/Surana in Dragon Age: Awakening.

I don't remember Anders and Cullen ever recognizing each other like say Nathaniel and Anders does.
Now, i don't expect them to know everyone living in the Circle Tower, i just thought i might as well ask, perhaps i missed some dialouge like:
Cullen: wtf? Anders?
Or something like that.

Yes, they should propably know each other. Everyone in the Ferelden circle seems to know the notorious fugitive. Kind of a missed opportunity. Well, let's just say Anders got out of Cullen's focus when he joined the Wardens (it's not like the Warden's send a letter to the templars, "go get him!"), and Anders is wise enough not to bring it up.

Yeah, i can't imagine Anders would be like:
"Oh, hey Cullen, fancy meeting you here!"
I would think he would hide behind Hawke ^^

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure Cullen was new to the whole circle thing. Had just been assigned there or something to that effect.

What I really wanted Anders to ask/say to Cullen was "Didn't I used to have your voice?"

Anders : "I know he's a Templar and everything, but damn that guy's got a sexy voice."

Lost opportunity there - although we could probably hear the sound of the fourth wall breaking if they'd put it in ;-)

To be fair, they don't sound too much alike. Very different tone and all.

Well, Cullen recognizes Anders as a mage; given that Hawke can throw a fireball at his head without him catching on, it's gotta be from Cullen's knowledge of the Fereldan Circle.

Anders and Cullen were voiced by the same guy in DA:O/Awakening ;p

Thus the lost opertunity for a joke, "Hey, as much as I hate templars, even I have to admit there's something.. charming, about that one.." *smarmy smirk*

Cullen was new to the Ferelden Circle at the time of Origins, and at that time, Anders was locked up in solitary confinement. Unless recruits are given the task of looking after prisoners, Cullen would never have had the chance to meet Anders. Presumably, Anders was released in the six months between the end of Origins and the beginning of Awakenings, but after what happened at the tower, I doubt Greagoir would have let Cullen anywhere near the mages. Or perhaps he was already enroute to Kirkwall. So yeah, they would have been in the same place at the same time, but their paths would have been unlikely to cross.

^ I forgot about the solitary confinement, but it makes a lot of sense.

About the same voice, I'm waiting for someone to place some Anders banter on a Cullen clip. (Like someone did with Jethann/Shepard.) I want to see Cullen say "not when I'm naked."

Has it been stated anywhere that all the Templars in the Circle know ALL the Mages? I'm pretty sure half the Mages in the Circle had no idea who my Warden was during the intro quest, and Wynne didn't seem familiar with him either. It's not much of a stretch to think that Anders was one of the Mages in the really, really tall tower that Cullen didn't know.

With Anders' tendency to slip away the moment anyone's back was turned, I would not be surprised if his portrait were handed to every templar in Ferelden with the instructions "If you see this man, follow him."

I doubt that Anders was in the circle when the abominations were crawling around though..

I would expect Anders to know other Circle Mages from Fereldan, but probably not that many of the Templars. You know the inmates you're with, but not necessarily all the prison guards.

Thankfully Ellis knows how to act, and so Cullen doesn't sound remarkably like Awakening Anders to my ear. If I listen carefully, I can pick certain inflections out ... but overall, well, he's acting a different character with a different voice.

Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, regardless of what's in game, Anders/Cullen is canon.

QFT.

I agree though that Anders was so notorious that I'd think any templar should recognize him. I mean, after seven successful escape attempts, it would just seem the sensible thing to do to inform everyone about him. Definitely a missed opportunity.

Perhaps they are just ignoring him to not P.O. Hawke?

Merideth even says that the relationship/association with Hawke is the only thing keeping them from taking Anders in.

Squee. I never thought about those two doing that kind of thing together. But now I am.

Well, you DID bring up Cullen and Anders.  Some things are inevitable.

(but I still need some brain bleach, myself)
