As a veteran rpg player who just finished DA2(hard/mage) i'd like to share my personal opinion on the game.
+For the generally improved tactical side of combat(less sustainables, ccc, meaningfull heals rather than heal spamm, greater variety of abilities that affect party members like chameleon's flask etc)
+For the now meaningfull specialisations that unlike the origins ones alter playstyle significantly(personally i believe that the point of specialization is to pick just one but at least it's not like awakening where you picked all but one)
+For the friendship/rivalry system, makes relationships feel more natural
+For voiced protagonist
+For the storytelling system
+For the rune/consumable system that's now longer complicated for no particular reason
+For toning up the featural and cultural diferences of the diferent races
+For making conversations independant of character skills,it never made sense to improve your speechcraft via gaining xp from fighting and made warrior type characters undesirable to play
-For the unrealistic artstyle, many have mentioned their disliked towards enemies exploding by dagger hits,or paper like 2-handers that actually feel weak rather than cool with these attack animations
-For 'fetch' quests that give a sense of farming, this is not a mmo
-For the limited,recycled enviroments
-For the non combat music that definately got a step back from origins, Leliana's Song,Dragon age love song and the Dalish theme camp theme were fantastic, nothing even close to them in Da 2
- For the interaction with party members for which we know so few considering that we spent about 7 years together, the camp from origins is really something that this game lacks
-For the romances have almost disapeared, this is suposed to be a 18+ game,a few more romantic scenes from the waist and up would definately not annoy anyone, and i believe that was pretty much ok in origins why the step back?
-For the ending choices that are identical,if you want a single ending keep a single ending don't let us decide something that actually never happens
-For while attempting to keep the personal story style of BG2:SoA,the game didn't give the impression of the protagonist wondering free in a living and constantly changing world that's not about to shatter(thing that makes side quest feel insignificant)
-For the much less intriguing npcs overall
-For the wasted potentiall of characters like the Arishok and Fenris
-For the enemy waves that spawn out of nowhere and prevent tactical usage of aoe
Overral enjoyable game more challenging yet less atmospheric and touching than origins, some things did not need to change, looking forward to the sequel
