I agree with this. If the character's designs are completely fluid, what's the point of giving them a unique look in the first place? The entire reason you can't change their armor this time around is because they wanted the characters to have an iconic style.highcastle wrote...
No thanks. I mean, there are plenty of mods that do that, but I've never seen the point personally. How the character looks is an integral part of them. That's why I object on principle to mods like white!Isabela and shirt!Varric. If you don't find the look of the character appealing, then you don't have to romance them or even take them any place.
That said I do occasionally download character mods, but I don't like ones that change appearances drastically. Usually if I download a mod at all it'll be to tweak one minor thing that bugs me rather than a redesign.

But there are already mods that change companions' hair and faces and that let us equip companions however we want.

Hopefully we'll get some DLC for those unable to use mods.

I liked the idea of the companions choosing their own outfits, I would have liked to see more variations though, independant of my choosing still.

Indeed. My player character looks stupid 90% of the game since I am stat whoring, I don't want my party all wearing strange armour combinations aswell.
To be honest I wish you had an armour set similar to Mass Effect 2. Can change the colour, apply runes for stats, find upgrades in quests etc. Until you get the (ugly) champion armour, you tend to be wearing strange stuff.

Well in the addon I applied anyway.

I don't think the champion armor is ugly. Granted all of my hawkes wear the Mage Armor. The mage set is not changed from it's original for a reason. It's the armor that Hawke used to fight the Arishok in the original cinematic. So it's the same armor that Warriors and Rogues where.
Well in the addon I applied anyway.
My female rogue has a problem with the champion rogue armor, she's ginger haired and that armor clashes terribly.

In the cinematic, hawk is a mage. Although a bizzare, stupid mage who fights with a staff rather than just set your target on fire from the offset.
Yeah but since the mage set also has metal parts and the right arm has full metal protecting it. I find it works for rogue and warrior. In partically for sword and board warrior if you are so inclindined. The only one that may look sort of weird is Archery Rogues pull the bow with their armored arm since it's the right arm.

I think that Hawke had all his sustained modes turned on and was out of mana potions, maybe?.

Indeed after slaying all kinds of huge and horrific monsters we adorn ourselves with darktown leftovers.
But orange and red?.
Better off dead.

Quoted for great truth. I just don't understand why so many people want every single aspect of the game world to be under their control.

Thing is, since we are given full control of the whole party, the whole party are our PCs. And I can't customize them all.Eollodwyn wrote...
A character's looks are part of who they are. I even like not being able to change their outfits. Being able to change them would make them...less, somehow. Getting to customize the PC is all I need.
What if I want to have Isabela use a bow -because she's useless in Nightmare otherwise- or I want Carver to be my sword-and-board warrior? Why must I be forced to tag the terrorist abomination along if I want a healer? This are the problems a lack of customization brings. It gets in the way of enjoying the game.

I like not changing their weapons and each one having their unique skill tree, but I 'm not going to make any case for that because I understand the gameplay issues it brings. My post was really only in regards to cosmetic changes. Like the "white Isabela" and "bearded Varric" mods.Xewaka wrote...

"Customization" in the vein of Origins, which basically meant your characters just looking like whatever the best mishmash of armor pieces you'd stumbled upon happened to look like, I'm glad to be rid of.

If they do decide to bring back character customization at some point, I hope they do it properly: that is, allow you to change the shape and colour of your character's equipment, like you could in NWN:HotU.

This ^^ the amount of times in Origins i'd upgrade someones gear then have a convo with them and basically miss out the whole chat because i was too busy being horrified at what that new armour looked like
I like the fact that all those shiny armour drops are all mine! (and the hideous stuff i quickly pretend i didn't loot and vendor it)
