Animes are HORRIBLE!

I mean, some are great, yeah... I grew up with DBZ.

But a Mass Effect Anime? The end is nigh!
Worse than X-Men anime...

Simply put, some things ARE NOT GOOD FOR ANIME!
Anime is a style of cartoons apart from the others. Apart not only by the presentation and drawing style ( which just wouldn't fit with the ME as we know it) but also through its characters, dialogs etc.
It has it's own cliches... Cliches that make the anime anime.
Applying those cliches to ME would ruin the universe. Each character will be dragged in an anime stereotype, and hence re-write that character and change it.

Because more retcons is what we need!

And I understand that it's a dream coming true for like 70% of the geeks here, but I beg you, THINK! It's not a good thing! It cannot be. The best it can be is decent. I'd settle for nothing, rather than decent.

And who said it would be about the characters from the games? All we know is it's an anime and it's set in the Mass Effect universe. For all we know it could be about the Krogan rebellion and have a brief cameo by Wrex at the most, or it could even be about the Protheans when they were invaded.

Doesn't matter... even with cameos, it will ruin it. And it will take the race stereotypes and anime them, ruining every krogan, asari, turian etc, not only specific characters...

It can be good it can be bad, simple as that. Way to early to speculate.
And you mention Halo, well the Halo story is crap the ME story is good.
I'd say good is a better start.

First Dragon Age, then Mass Effect? *sigh* I just hope Funimation is willing to use different voice actors for the main characters in both.

If the ME anime would be drawn like that... YES!

Seriously, Bioware just needs to give this person a job.

I support this if and only if two assumptions are met.

1) The primary language is English, not Japanese.  The lip-synching had better be right.

2) The quality is AT LEAST as good as the Ghost in the Shell movies.

IMO anime is almost universally mind numbing garbage, with a few exceptions.  Don't turn this into something terrible.

Nah, every character will be voiced by one guy, even the women.

I reeeeally hate anime, but I am certain I can endure one if it has the original voice actors. Looking forward to any news about it.

3) It is consistent with the MEverse unlike Genesis for example

Anyone want some nooses? I'm leaving right now to buy some rope. Making Mass Effect into an anime will rid it of the dark 80 sci-fi theme which made Mass Effect 1 so damn good.

... Just out of curiousity, what anime have you seen? Because I assure you, I've seen far darker stuff in anime than anything in Mass Effect.

I was talking about the dark visual style in Mass Effect 1, similiar to 80's movies such as Blade Runner, Aliens, and Empire Strikes Back. Also, I think it would be more symbolic to hang myself with a wired 360 controller.

Bubblegum Crysis: Tokyo 2040, Appleseed, just to name two off the top of the head with dark visual styles not unlike you describe.

I have nothing against DBZ but the typical anime stile with the big and long flowing hair wouldn't fit the ME universe in my opininion. BTW I love DBZ.

Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040

Appleseed

Three prime examples of anime that can easily match Mass Effect's dark visual style.

lol I was gonna say that if it's anything like cowboy beebop then
I'm in; I gotta disagree to extent with appleseed there's the issue of the bubble eyes in that. Never seen Bubblegum Crisis so I don't know about that one.

I'm referring more to the aesthetics of the sets and the armour, which isn't shown in that image, but the body armour they wear could easily pass as N7 armour if you slapped the logo and stripes onto it. Bubblegum Crisis is similar to the Metal Hero tokusatsu, very dark, very violent, highly suggested.

so you your saying the mixture of elements from these three anime's would make the perfect Mass Effect anime?

To an extent I suppose, just providing examples to show that not all anime is full of brightly coloured characters with eyes taking up over 40% of their faces and scenery to match. The idea that anime can't achieve the same tones as Mass Effect is patently absurd, if one were to judge the style of an entire country's animation based on only a few mainstream examples one could say that all American cartoons are lighthearted and goofy based on Freakazoid, Mickey Mouse, Spongebob, and Bugs Bunny, when that simply isn't true. Some American animation is like that, sure, but then you've also got your shows like Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, or Spawn, and then you've got shows that fall anywhere inbetween. Japan is no different, for every Dragonball there's a Cowboy Bebop, for every Lucky Star there's an Outlaw Star, for every Gurren Lagann there's an Evangelion and everything inbetween.
