I hate to sound like a broken record but, seriously, watch Ghost in the Shell SAC and 2nd GIG and see what a serious sci-fi anime looks like before dismissing it wholesale.

It has nothing to do with disliking anime. "Sheparu-rama-sama-san-chan" could easily be seen as mockery of Japanese people and their language. You might as well put on some buck teeth and go "Ching Chong Chung 'ruv you 'rong time!"

I don't care what it can be seen as, how people perceive my comments doesn't make me a racist.
And Japanese isn't a race, it's a nationality. Even if I was intentionally mocking Japanese people and their language, it wouldn't be racism.

If there was to be a French Mass Effect cartoon and I'd said: "Great, now we get to watch Jean-Luc Shepard Capitan du Normandy fly around on the back of a space poodle eating baguettes and other such nonsense"; would that be racist? No. Would it be offensive? Maybe, if the reader's an oversensitive crybaby.

If it's somehow racist to not take into account the feelings of people who take themselves and their culture too seriously, then I guess I'm a racist.

There are good Sci-Fi animes. Good.
But how that proves the ME anime will be a good one?

So you're saying, that because out of 1000 or more Sci-Fi anime, a couple are good, ME will be such a good anime. To hell with the other 994 that sucked, because 0.6% of these are good, I decide it will rock.

Not only that, but as I said, the ME1 story and initial setup for the trilogy was that good because all the right ingredients for a good story were there.
But it is NORMAL that the more you progress and want to expand, the more away from those ingredients you'll go and the more the story will suck ( the drop in ME2s plot/story, the awful comics, the awful Arrival DLC, there's a descendant path there).

Making an anime out of ME is like the limit of expansionism. You can't go much more out of the normal line than that.

There are good Sci-Fi animes. Good.

Anime is no less capable of depicting a good story than any other medium.

I'm not saying that the ME anime will automatically be great. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to assume that it will automatically be bad simply by virtue of it being an anime.

If you choose to continue to deny this, then the assertion that you're a troll would seem to be fairly apt.

You do raise a good point, but it is as rediculous to assume it will be great, a geek's dream ( as most here do) as it is to assume it will automatically be bad ( as the rest asume). I said that by observing the path on which ME story and storytelling goes right now, ME anime will probably fail as did the comic and the newest DLC. 

Never did say anime can't have good sci-fi stories. 

Only stated my opinion that by the way things go now, I cannot truly believe the ME will be awesome, simply because ME being ME, it will be that much harder to correctly transform it into an anime. 


Also, if I state my opinion which is contrary to the majority's, that does not make me a troll.

However it's equally foolish to assume that it will be terrible when we don't even have any information beyond it's an anime, it's set in the Mass Effect universe, and it involves Funimation. Now, if the announcement said they were going to work with 4Kids, that is another matter altogether. I can count the number of decent let alone good dubs to come out of 4Kids on one hand.

If the ME anime were being produced by 4Kids then, yes, I would agree that the end is nigh and we should abandon all hope. I really have no opinion of T.O. Entertainment beyond "their artwork looks consistently high quality, albeit not usually in a style that I would immediately think suited to an ME movie" so my attitude is optimistic but still wait-and-see at this point.

Most rights to shows they had will go to FUNi I bet just like when Geneon died.

So you may see some of the shows on DVD or not who knows.

Actually, 4Kids is still technically "alive". They filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as of April 6th and are apparently still operating while they fight TV Tokyo/Nihon Ad Systems' lawsuit against them.
