While we get terrible story( maybe) we get AWESOME artwork! *hints Dark Horse comics*
I'm not really a fan at all of Dark Horse Comics. They have this really....adolescent art style. I want something more akin to any of the artists in The Sandman. The cover art I posted above, when I saw that, I think I spent 5 minutes staring at it, wondering if it was real.
I have to say, as much as I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, this sounds like a TERRIBLE idea. It sounds like a thinly-veiled marketing tool to bring in a younger audience. As if the world needs more Talimancers. *rolleyes* The only thing that would redeem this idea is if it establishes a MaleShep/Kaidan romance as "canon", just to ****** off the kindergamers.
Wow, that Vexille clip looked bad, like Halo 1 era graphics bad. The designs and action choreography were top notch though. I think an Appleseed Ex Machina style of CGI might be a better way to go, although I'm totally fine with 2D animation as long as they have decent character designers.

Ahem...
Maybe I'm just a comic art snob, but I still think those images are incredibly.....cartoony. I think comics are like videogames. They can be art, and they can also just be a boyhood pasttime. Those images look like the later. They make me reminisce about this
Art that I wish they would look more for is something in the veins of this:
or
or ESPECIALLY this:
Just something more.......serious, something more respectful of the gravity of the Mass Effect story, no pun intended

It's an old movie, but I really like it for their animations and style
And yes, the last 3 images are much better at capturing the visual aesthetic of Mass Effect. The dark horse ones certainly work, but it's not quite to my taste.
I'm not an expert on comics, but one thing I have gathered is that getting an artist who excells at that sort of art often seems to mean it takes longer for each issue to be completed. No idea if that's the rule or just the case with the one I followed for a time. I do agree that the ME series suits a more realistic art style a lot better though.

The same goes for 2D animation. The more lines and details something has, the longer it takes to draw that thing. That's why most anime character/mechanical designs are fairly simplistic, because more lines = more time drawing. Using 3D for mechanical objects adn structures lets them keep the detail and not spend as much time on it, but usually it's really hard to blend in with 2D stuff due to shading and texturing differences.
@javierabegazo just don't tell me you were thinking that I was saying that Dark Horse artwork is good.
I mean God, that's terrible artwork from Dark Horse.
Lol, sorry, It was a huge misunderstanding
just a thought but why hasnt bioware done a comic deal with dc comics? imagine ivan reis's artwork for a mass effect book and that would be a epic win. i love the current books but i agree the artwork needs a overhaul
I don't know anything about anime... but does FUNimation has something to do with Dragon Ball?
They have something to do with a lot of stuff, it's like asking if EA has something to do with Madden, Dragon Ball is one of their big cash cows. They're the largest R1 licesning company (IE the people who get the series from Japan over to here).
