Oh god, I really wished that was a rickroll. Halo did the same thing as well... I find this information...disturbing.
To be fair, Halo sucks to begin with, so I wouldn't expect quality from any adaptation made of it anyway.
New Mass Effect Anime coming... seriously.

I was thinking the space battle stuff fitted Gundam, not referencing mindfookery. Evangelion is still high up there in the list of..."wut..."kregano wrote...
Where does Gundam fit into that? I mean sure, they've had some real psychedilic stuff, but nothing mindfooking like Evangelion. They did have some cool liquid metal shapeshifting aliens though.StableZaner wrote...
Just read this elsewhere, not sure what to think. It's gonna to be all tentacles and mindfookery isn't it. Neon Genesis Evangelion mixed with Gundam

I don't know anything about anime... but does FUNimation has something to do with Dragon Ball?
They have something to do with a lot of stuff, it's like asking if EA has something to do
with Madden, Dragon Ball is one of their big cash cows. They're the largest R1 licesning company (IE the people who get the series from Japan over to here).

Casey Hudson of BioWare, executive producer of the Mass Effect series, will serve as executive producer on the film, along with FUNimation President and CEO Gen Fukunaga and Director of Original Entertainment Chris Moujaes and T.O Entertainment’s CEO Takeichi Honda and Yui Shibata.
"Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer for the Mass Effect series. "Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.”
Oh. My. Goodness.
Bioware, STOP THIS. Just stop. Stoping whoring yourself out everywhere to different mediums you don't belong. It's getting ridiculous. Make video games, stick what you're good at. Maybe trying to spread yourself thin between comics, video games, DLC, and now anime is getting to be a bit too much, considering the unpopular DLC you just put out.
I was seriously hoping this was a rickroll.

Well, hopefully this Mass Effect variant will actually have some substance and avoid the Halo Legends pitfall of just being a gimmicky thing where they just give Halo to different anime directors and see what they can do with it.
Don't bet on it.
Has anyone involved in this ever heard of over-saturating the market? Games, apparel, comics, toys, and now anime! Geez bioware, dry-humping the cash cow much? Or should I be asking this of EA? I understand the allure of having the resources of a big publisher like EA at your disposal, but both the Dragon age and Mass Effect franchises feel like they've been moved from "creative and unique" to "corporate and formulaic". I love Mass Effect, and am somewhat a fan of Dragon age, but Bioware doesn't feel like the same company anymore. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, or maybe it's anti-corporate sentiment. Regardless, I wish Bioware would pull a bungie and buy back their company; without the "immediately shuffling over to the next multi-million dollar task-master" part *cough* activision *cough*
Edit:
If I ever hit the lottery, and I mean a big $300 million jackpot, I'd buy bioware and let them make the games they want.

I don't think a cry for sanity is "fear mongering". Whenever anything even remotely independent gets popular enough it is made into a corporate prostitute and gang-banged.

I'ts not a judment of the product, but the principle and mentality behind it. There is a possibility this anime will be good, though I will admit to doubting that. I'm against the corporate whoring of the Mass Effect IP, or any IP for that matter. There's only so much stuff you can make before it feels like it's just being churned out to satisfy greed. Which, by the way, is something that cannot be satisfied.
Edit:
Also, I never gave an opinion on the quality of the comics.

imo this is better over the mass effect live film. at least this anime can do something new to the universe other than destroying it like the live film can. i fully support a series on adult swim if they would do it.

All I will give the film credit for is taking on subject matter outside of the game narrative. Video game adaptations have never been held to a very high standard, and considering the deteriorating creative atmosphere I believe to be permeating Bioware from the cancer that is EA I have little hope that this movie is anything but another cash grab.Tazzmission wrote...

Besides, to declare it a waste of money before you have seen it is foolish at best. Why don't you wait and see what comes of this? Also, many people have no idea just how wide the spectrum of anime is, its hardly as limited as some of the main stream stuff.
Only thing I am surprised about is that they had said it was a movie but waited for a long time to mention it was anime-based.
