Mark my words friends, by the time Mass Effect 3 comes out you will be sick of hearing about anything involving it. It's Halo all over again.

Oh, but at least you'll be able to buy your over-priced N7 belt buckle at gamestop on launch day.

That siad, I do plan (at the moment) on purchasing Mass Effect 3. The Game. None of the ancillary garbage surrounding it.

I personally enjoy anime and if done right video games can be adapted to the medium successfully. Bones is a very good company too.

I'm optimistic.

While I agree that Bioware is probably overextending the ME IP at the moment, the fact of the matter is that diversifying the means of getting money out of that IP isn't necessarily a bad thing. The only reason it's a bit questionable in this case is that there's so much stuff out there all ready, which just makes the anime seem a bit unnecessary (unless it's coming out way after ME3, which seems likely to me, since the production process can be a bit long for these kinds of things). I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear anything about this for a year/year and half minimum depending on what they are producing (OAV, movie, series).

All I will give the film credit for is taking on subject matter outside of the game narrative. Video game adaptations have never been held to a very high standard, and considering the deteriorating creative atmosphere I believe to be permeating Bioware from the cancer that is EA I have little hope that this movie is anything but another cash grab.

ea is a good company and honestly way better than activision............ i admit i use to be on the i hate ea bandwagon also but in reality ea is doing what every corporation does and that is make money. i mean hell for the 2 alt costumes packs they were 160 a piece right? look at what capcome did. they want 400 points for 1 dlc charachter. heck capcome charged 400 points for 6 costumes.... so ea isnt close as being bad like capcome or activision

Meh.

It's not something I really care about, so will never watch this or anything...I can't stand anime in general...but honestly? If someone else does and they enjoy it..whats the harm?

...as long as they don't go all Star Wars and make the most obscure weird stuff canon...I'm good!

As long as this anime is entirely devoid of senseless, contrived Japanese melodrama and is written in a mature, intelligent manner, I will be satisfied, even if I may/may not get to watch it.

It's not about who's better or who's worse. I understand corporations exist to make money, but endlessly marketing and expanding a product or IP eventually gets to the point where you have to stop and say "Isn't this getting ridiculous?"

That's what google is for. Don't waste your money on this. Please.

A waste of money in your opinion, let everyone choose their own likes and dislikes, I happen to love anime but hate things like golf and baseball.  Both of these are a waste of money, in my opinion.  You see what happened there?

Besides, to declare it a waste of money before you have seen it is foolish at best.  Why don't you wait and see what comes of this?  Also, many people have no idea just how wide the spectrum of anime is, its hardly as limited as some of the main stream stuff.

Only thing I am surprised about is that they had said it was a movie but waited for a long time to mention it was anime-based.

Again, this is not an appraisal of the product, but the mentality behind it. Encouraging that mentaility is, in my opinion, a waste of money. Liking  or disliking anything is subjective, and I'm not telling anyone not to enjoy it. I'm saying not to spend money on it because it is, or certainly seems to be, a cash grab.

If they ever do makew a ME film which they have announced. Let's just hope that it is not anywhere near Shepard's story/path

No problem man.

As to your earlier point about the film expanding the subject matter beyond what the games covered, I wouldn't be surprised if the anime does the same thing. Bioware has been fairly consistent on making the expanded universe materials not pigeon-hole Shepard (although far less successful at giving in-game decisions the same treatment). There's plenty of other interesting things to explore in the Mass Effect universe and I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware might try something outside of the overarching Reaper plot for this one.

Is this just a late April Fool's joke? Let's hope so. I'm trying to imagine the ME crew given the Big Eyes Small Mouth treatment, and it ain't pretty. Is there somewhere I can go to hide from this and pretend it doesn't exist?

I feel like the philosophy of the franchise is trending younger and younger as it is, and that is extremely disappointing for me since I'm not, you know, young. What's next, a Wii game where you roam through the universe alongside a cute pet FENRIS mech?

Not all anime uses the big eye style, just a lot of it.

But I have to say, that Wii game doesn't sound too bad, especially if you're burning your eyes out with Faulkner and stuff like that :P

Great news.
1 nowaday actors dont put enough passion, and hollywood tend to dumb down enough script for explosions & action just to attract short-minded people and make more money. While anime is not that greedy yet.(just read what rockstar co-founder said this week about not doing ever another movie with one of their franchise series unless they want to ruin it but make quick money)

2 MUCH cheaper than build realistic sets, space ships, an planet enviroments. Faster also.

3 dont have to worry about cannon fodder (aka eye notices the FAIL) with unrealistic makeups with aliens like krogans, turians etc

4 VG movies SUCK(all of them, dont say u liked "djdjhd" movie because "djdjhd" true fans didnt) while the CGI done or anime VG movies tend to be more sucesfull.

PD: please BIOWARE make it old school effects. You cant compare last years anime action sequences to those of the 90s like Ninja Scroll, Dragon ball Z (GT was crap, not just the story, the music and everything else were.... fights werent on the level of Goku vs freeza of the late 80s) Fist of the North Star of the 80s was much more better done and more realistic than the one of 2008, thats lame and pathetic..Old school please, nowadays the only good action sequences probably are from "Bleach" fights and Naruto(before shippuden, but some akatsuki fight from shippuden are great.) While others like One Piece are more childiss(dont get me wrong, im talking about action and fights).
Make it like cowboy beboop at least, but more mature, honor your game fans rating 18+

Well it's not, It's gong to be produced by T.O Entertainment. They haven't made anything good at really..unless you're into creepy. Well it's not all creepy, some of it's just generic rubbish too. The Major's arm blew off after she did that...

Videogames movies suck. All of them, period.  But theres always someones that says, i liked max payne movie, while real max payne fans were armed with torches and pitchforks calling for blood.

In the other hand the videogame based movies done with CGI/animation and not real actors are the best rated ones.
Resident evil movies(you know milla jovovich) were PURE crap, but in the other hand CGI done RESIDENT EVIL DEGENERATION was excellent.
