New Mass Effect Anime coming... seriously.

You really cannot blame them for putting out an anime, either. The books and comics have all done really well. A lot of Mass Effect fans gobble up any bit of story they can (via these other media forms). I would rather they release it than not.

dead space aftermath was pretty good and imo alot better than the first animated film. mass effect could be great with that kind of style but i think that a clone wars cartoon style of mass effect would be 1000% better.

IF they do it like that would be perfect!!
But i dont know why i think they will make it like last decade anime crap, like "the governator" or those mega fake hair animes like "wolverine anime".
Id rather see CGI done serie like the ME3 trailer that was JUST kickass, and mature. Even like the clone wars would be better than late fake anime.

so your saying just because you may think the comics suck that automaticly makes this anime show not worthy? heck im willing to bet 70% of the fans hated on arrival because they were still coming off the travisty wich was dragon age 2. so in a way yes it is fear mongoring. how can you judge anything when its not out yet?
I forgot to mention that along with the comics, the video games, DLC, and now anime...also the Mass Effect movie in the works, as well. "Dry humping the cash cow" may be a bit mean spirited to say (as someone else here had mentioned), but it *seems* kind of accurate. Then again, none of us know what goes on behind the scenes.
Also, you're assuming that the people who are fans of science fiction--like ME, are also fans of fantasy--like DA. Not neccessarily true. While I played both, and I thought DA2 was a "travisty" as you say, I really had high hopes for Arrival...because I so desperately love the ME world.
I don't think comics "suck"--I LOVE comics, but I just don't know if branching out to comics (especially Dark Horse--really? Blech.) is where you should be allocating your energy and resources when you should be focusing on making your sequels to the game that garnered fan interest to begin with. And if you WERE going to allocate those resources, why wouldn't you put the time, effort, and money into a storyline that is continuous, fits with your universe/canon (i.e. ME Liara vs. ME2 Liara; night and day anyone?), and have artists with good name recognition and, well...art skills to DRAW the comics?
I want ME3 to be good. I'd wait another whole year if it meant more content and yummy story goodness were put into it. I just worry that they're trying to spread themselves too thin.
And, admittedly, I really hate anime. I've tried to love it, but I just can't.

Also reducing all of the 33 hours you spend per playtrough to just 2 hours of film is not that inmersive, and that why so many Video game movies fail.
Fans end up NOT being happy because of all the changes and all things missing compared to the original story/game and ramdom people that didnt play the game: think that the movie was entertaining but are disapointed because his friend that played the game told him that the game story was amazing.
Dan houser from Rockstar games learned the lesson."MOVIES OF VIDEOGAMES ARE AWFUL"

Shepard will finally go Super Saiyan!

I'm pretty nerdy to be sure, and heck I'll admit there's a few animes I like (though the vast majority annoy me). But there's a limit for me for how nerdy I'll allow myself to become. Also just to be honest most video game based comics, books, movies, whatever all tend to be rather lame. I'm just going to stick to the games, so I don't have any outside stuff polute the awesomeness in my mind that Mass Effect is. Heck I'll probably be pretty hesitant about any new Mass Effect games.
Do people really buy enough of those comics/films, etc. to make this spinoff material profitable?

I'ts not a judment of the product, but the principle and mentality behind it. There is a possibility this anime will be good, though I will admit to doubting that. I'm against the corporate whoring of the Mass Effect IP, or any IP for that matter. There's only so much stuff you can make before it feels like it's just being churned out to satisfy greed. Which, by the way, is something that cannot be satisfied.
Edit:
Also, I never gave an opinion on the quality of the comics.
I disagree whole heartedly. There's nothing wrong with expanding upon an existing universe, and Mass Effect has a huge universe to expand on. The Rachni war, the Krogan rebellion, the first contact war, the morning war, all opportunities to tell new and interesting stories. As I've said before, yes sometimes you'll have expanded universe stories that suck, like the Death Troopers novel from Star Wars, but it's worth it for the stories that are incredible like the Darth Bane trilogy.
Granted some universes aren't really capable of supporting an expanded universe, the Sims for example, but Mass Effect can easily support one with its rich history and diverse characters. As long as they actually avoid telling stories about Shepard I'm all for expanding on this universe, I'd love to watch a series about a group of Salarian STG, a Drell assassin, or a Krogan mercenary. Hell, they could even make an anime out of Blasto!

I guess anime is much cheaper to produce so they shifted their focus there. Dammit BW why do you have to create great IPs and than change styles within them so dramatically that you p*ss of nearly everyone who loved it in the first place? Hell I would have been thrilled about a 3D western animations project (think the blur trailer in movie format) but not this anime crap. If you want to do anime, make a new IP for it and don't ruin a grat one.
I am sorry if I ramble on in the "RUINED FOREVER" camp but I am really disappointed and frustrated now after reading these news because I know, even if they are going to pull out a decent story for this project (which, considering Evolution I doubt, honestly), I am still going to be repelled by the change n art style. So as far as I am concerned, there is just no way to put a positive spin on this.

No, but there are plently of people who see it as a valid medium for this kind of thing. I can understand why you don't like it, given the tons of terrible stuff that gets produced, but that is not grounds to write off the entire medium.ReconTeam wrote...

No, it's not. Mass Effect is small time compared to those and there aren't people who would do all kinds of stupid things radical Christians and Muslims do.Minister of Sound wrote...
I think it's time for me to hang myself. This is like make an anime out of the Bible or Koran.
The Bible would make a great anime though, especially the Old Testament, what if all the sex, violence, and drama in there.

Indeed, Western animation produces just as much crap as Eastern does. Seriously, watch any of the sequels to a Disney movie made a long time ago that they've done, like the Cinderella sequels, tell me those aren't just as crappy as any given bad anime, apart from Garzey's Wing, I'll grant you that one's hard to top.
