Not a big fan of this announcement. Halo Legends was quite possibly the worst thing to happen to the Halo Universe. Anime has a way of turning everything into an insane Dragonball Z-style fistfight. While this worked excellently in Dragonball Z because it fit with the story, a fistfight in the future when there are guns and other ranged projectiles is just absurd (a SPARTAN fighting a giant monkey-monster-thing hand to hand when he could just use his damn assault rifle, really?).

That actually made sense because the Spartan was going up against a Brute, a notorious bullet sponge (especially given the fact that Halo ARs use 7.62x51mm NATO rounds 500 years into the future), and the Brute can just whack all the other guys to death with his massive hammer.

Well if Halo got one this makes sense, at least it's more feasable than the movie idea.

No, no it really doesn't. Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and any Gundam series that functions more on the Real Robot model than the Super Robot just to name a few series that generally stick to ranged weapons rather than melee unless the characters are either disarmed or there's a genuine tactical advantage to fighting in close quarters.

That section was a parody, it wasn't to be taken seriosuly becuase it isn't part of the Halo canon.

 If FUNi can get Madhouse to do it I think it will be fine at best a love it or hate it movie and so far the new X-Men anime they made is good.

TBH not all of the Halo Legends episodes were bad. Some were actually pretty frakkin' cool. As long as the ME anime stays consistent and they don't hand it off to a dozen different artists and directors *cough* I'll try to remain hopeful. A Mass Effect anime is something I've actually been dreaming of anyway.

We can only hope they're more respectful with the material than Dark Horse was with the comics.

Animes are HORRIBLE!

I mean, some are great, yeah... I grew up with DBZ.

But a Mass Effect Anime? The end is nigh!
Worse than X-Men anime...


Simply put, some things ARE NOT GOOD FOR ANIME!
Anime is a style of cartoons apart from the others. Apart not only by the presentation and drawing style ( which just wouldn't fit with the ME as we know it) but also through its characters, dialogs etc.
It has it's own cliches... Cliches that make the anime anime.
Applying those cliches to ME would ruin the universe. Each character will be dragged in an anime stereotype, and hence re-write that character and change it.


Because more retcons is what we need!


And I understand that it's a dream coming true for like 70% of the geeks here, but I beg you, THINK! It's not a good thing! It cannot be. The best it can be is decent. I'd settle for nothing, rather than decent.
