I am trying to romance isabella and I think I have an indication I failed. For some reason she has her special outfit but I got a isabella rivalry in the prime suspect quest. When she came to the mansion at night to sleep with me I picked all heart icon choices when given the chance. Could that be a reason I did not get a romance with her?

-In the prime suspect quest I get a rivalry for letting gascard survive instead of no change.

it says: In Act 2, Isabela will approach you in your home. If you choose to engage in the romance scene, you can question her about love. Isabela will state it was just "rutting" and that her "curiosity is sated". She will then reveal the circumstances of her past: her mother sold her into marriage to her husband for a goat and some coins against her will. She was forced to remain with him until Zevran assassinated him, allowing her to take over the ship and become captain herself. Isabela will also reveal that she has only truly loved someone once, a man of unknown name, but it only broke his heart in the end. Though she will seem annoyed at you questioning her emotions on the matter, she will walk away with +10 friendship if you do (or +10 rivalry, if you are in a rivalry romance.

Shes doesn't reciprocate your feelings until act 3 anyway.

Yeah so that is a long way to go. No.

I am suspecting this because just for jollies I went through the dupoise mansion in the "prime suspect" quest and got a rivalry from letting gascard go.

If you allow DePuis to live: Rivalry small.png Fenris: rivalry (+10), Rivalry small.png Merrill: rivalry (+5), Rivalry small.png Isabela: rivalry (+5), Rivalry small.png Aveline: rivalry (+5).
If you romance Fenris or Isabela they dont seem to care. No rivalry.

From the best I can tell the wikia is wrong. While entirely plausible the wikia may be right in which case I am in trouble.

Making a couple of choices that a character disagrees with will not rob you of the ability to become friendly with someone, and you can romance a character with a high rivalry score. But don't alter your behavior just to get some fake nookie, that's even sadder than doing it in real life.

I just remember amanda (was it?) from mass effect. You didn't find out if you were romancing her until it was too late.

The bar only locks when you hit 100%. You can still take a rivalry hit with someone before then, romance or no.

Don't worry about 5pts. Its easy to max her out on friendship. As long as she visited you for the sleepover, and had the conversation about Love afterwards, you should be fine til Act 3 events.

You can get and lose rivalry points all you want, it does not matter on individual matters.

However, final stages of relationship depend on friendship/rivalry being above 75% I think.

That's hysterical, and sadly true.  The fake nookie is a 100% lame, fully clothed, very brief, mild makeout session.  You don't even get "felicitations".  WTF, Isabella?

Also, if you get to that scene with her and you, at any point in that encounter, pass her friendship threshold (or have already passed it), you'll end up with her "Thumb's up" bug.  Go to the daytime docks and swap her in and out of your party to get rid of it before you save/reload.
