Weapons are ME2 style, with a set list, but mods make a return, not in
the ME1 style, but allowing you to swap out different parts such as
barrels, scopes, and so on, which effect both the weapon's combat
performance and its appearance.

Yeah, could be. Still, Cerberus should understand what Shepard represents against the Reapers. I just hope it isn't "Cerberus does it for the lulz".
I can't remember if you can continue working for them after that but it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine things went downhill from there anyway.
In a novel, which is written to work for both ways, TIM mentions that he doesn't know where Shepard is but he's considering working with them again.
As someone who saved the base on their first playthrough I too hope it isn't a simple case of 'We no like you no more Mr Hero".
I'd punch a hole in a wall.
I doubt it will be, they made such a big deal about Shepard being important to humanity whether they liked him or not that it would seem crazy to have them want him dead during the freaking invasion without a really good reason.
"I'm bored."
"Let's do something."
"Kill Shepard?"
"Sure."
The only thing I can think of otherwise is that BioWare needed to make Cerberus a full on villain for ME3 for plot reasons or something.
They needed more sidequests.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if Cerberus ends up indoctrinated, what with their casual observance of experimental safety protocols.
But yeah, of all the news in GI that's the only part that has me going, "Huh?" I can sort of see it for Paragons, but even then The Illusive Man doesn't seem like the type to kill purely out of spite. He'd kill Shepard after the Reapers are defeated as he represents a security risk and if he's Paragon, also a very real enemy. But would he risk the future of humanity to remove that comparatively minor threat? I wouldn't say so.
actually the cerbrus thing can work both ways. paragon can help you in the opening act wile renegade sets you up for a downfall in the opening act..... if you didnt read the info i wont spoil it but arrival was the right dlc to start me3 is all i can say

It makes sense why they'd want paragon Shepard dead; s/he blew up extremely valuable tech, told the Illusive man to shove it, and ran off with their 4 billion+ credit ship. No idea why they'd want renegade Shepard dead though, other than the fact that s/he is a douchebag (although in most games that's reason enough to kill someone).

Balanced against what? If past iterations are to be adhered to, ME3 will be ridiculously easy regardless.

Yeah I heard that they were bringing mods back. This is the perfect way to expand on the invetory/weapons system of ME2, making it deeper and more meaningful without heading back into clutter town (hopefully).
I do hope we see armor get mods as well though, even if it changes nothing cosmetically. Although with that said I still think you can have your cake and eat it too if you have cosmetic armor mods that take the form of visors and belts and colour changes etc. Could be as simple as an energy resistance mod changing an armor's colour to red for all I care but I think it would be the perfect middle ground.

This would feel a bit cheap in my opinion, given how many warnings they would have had by then about indoctrination. Depends how it's handled of course, but you wouldn't expect TIM to handle Reaper tech without being able to destroy the facility involved or otherwise cut it off from the rest of Cerb. It would be a bit plotdumb or whatever it's called.

I used Paragon/Renegade in relation to the decision to keep the base for the sake of convenience.

Balanced against other weapons and mods and enemies so there is incentive for variety and challenge. ME2 weapons were much more balanced until the Mattock came along.MGIII wrote...

I agree and I really doubt it will be. The writers seemed to go to a lot of effort to make it clear TIM (at least) considers Shepard too invaluable to kill during the Reaper crisis. If they are after Shepard no matter what in ME3 there has to be a really good reason, I don't see them playing it that way without one.
Offhand I can imagine TIM's view of Shepard possibly changing if he gets the base and finds some valuable tech, deciding that he doesn't need him around afterall. But again, hardly jives with a Shepard who is generally pro-Cerberus at the end of ME2, Shepard is just too valuable while on team to get rid off without reason. Especially considering the expense required to kill him.
In a novel, which is written to work for both ways, TIM mentions that he doesn't know where Shepard is but he's considering working with them again.
I must get around to reading the novels. That is interesting, and definitely goes against my above idea that TIM decided he didn't need Shepard to protect Earth anymore. I guess we'll just have to wait for more info.

With SMGs at least the Shuriken and Tempest can actually deal significantly more damage. The Mattock has the highest damage output of any weapon, best AR accuracy, easiest on the ammo for ARs and has no maximum fire rate so is completely broken with Adrenaline Rush.Upsettingshorts wrote...
