And if we want to get pedantic, "colossal" doesn't specify exactly how large that thresher was supposed to be. it could be 10 times the size of any thresher Shepard has seen, which could be called colossal, and that still wouldn't be big enough to pull a 2 kilometer long ship out of the sky.
Not all Reapers are equal in size, a Thresher Maw of such a size could very easily take down a reaper of the approximate proportions of the human reaper that was being built inside the collector ship.
Additionally, the "2KM" you're referring to is not something I can find anywhere in relation to reapers, the "Heretics" (Geth) ship you enter for Legion's loyalty mission was stated to be of such a size- however that ship was not a reaper.

Removed pic showing Ashley's new look and the following info...
Liara, Garrus, Ashley/Kaiden and some new human character named James Sanders have already been confirmed as squad members for ME3. But: Wrex, Mordin Legion and Andersonmay only be receiving cameos although they haven't been ruled out as possible squad members. Udina and The Illusive Man will also make an appearance though they won't be on your crew.
My reaction.
I'm very pleased that Liara and Garrus are coming back. And by God the better be on my crew for the duration,
having Liara kicking ass for me during LOTSB only to leave was a real tease.
But; honestly I'm kind of bummed that Ashley/Kaiden will be back. Ash was an interesting; but hardly exceptional
character and Kaiden was dull as dishwater. Not to mention I'm not sure I want their disloyal asses back on my ship after the crap they gave me on Horizon. I mean seriously I save their life and they colony they were supposed to be protecting and they have the audacity to call me a traitor? **** them.
On a side note the redesign they did for Ashley makes her look too much like Miranda (who I'd prefer to have
return instead of Ash). Ash's character model definitely needed to be redone since it looked dated in ME2; but now she looks like a Miranda clone.
Its just a damned shame if Wrex doesn't come back as a squad member. Granted he's got an important position on Tuchanka in ME2; but he's just such an awesome character that I'd love to have him back on the crew. The same goes for Mordin who was both the most entertaining and ethically complex character in ME2. I'm cool with
Legion not coming back as a squad member though. Legion was interesting; but I don't really think it has enough personality to be an engaging crew member over the course of two games, although I think he could drive a very cool storyline regarding the development of Geth Individuality. I like Anderson alot but having him join Shepards crew seems silly to me particularly considering his age and his position so Ihope he just gets a cameo.
I'm apathetic about Udina though he was a fairly interesting character in ME1. And as for the Illusive Man
I'm very pleased that he'll be coming back, not because I'm a fan of Cerberus (quite the opposite really); but because I still owe him a bullet in the brain for what went down on Akuze.

Hey devs could you do me a favor? Can you make the iconic N7 armor stronger? It just seems like it should be one of the strongest armors in the game, but its always one of the weakest.
And while your at it make the Avenger worth a damn. Heck balance all the weapons, if a gun is too weak to be a viable option there's no point in putting it in the game.

Think about it. Just because Sovereign was big...doesn't mean all of the other Reapers are too. Sovereign was the Vanguard...and like others have said in the past, was most likely constructed that way so he could fulfill his duty in battling the majority of Organic life's fleets (IF it happened) while activating the Relay.
AND...there ARE huge Thresher Maws out there. They just live deeeeeep underground. And, all it said was that the Maw wrapped itself around the Reaper yadda yadda. I'm sure it will make sense in the game.

well I think it's a little far-fetched that the god thresher maw comes at the exact moment a reaper comes saving shepard

Maybe it's like that scene in Wolverene Movie? The whole "Noone is allowed to kill my brother but me" thing?

When the crap hits the fan...Organic life is gonna strike back. Makes sense that all the Mother Ships/Monsters come out to play with the Reapers. It's kind of cool to have heard about stuff like that. It's like, Organic life is fighting itself everday...but in comes the Reapers, and now, no matter what creature you are, race, etc., your gonna band togetther to fight the Reapers.
Cool Stuff.

Also to the devs. No cure for Thane. It's more realistic if he dies from Kepral's Syndrome.
Yes, please. Tragedy is a part of good RPG's.

So why'd the Thresher Maw wrap itself around the Reaper in the first place? Is this a righteous thresher maw, or did it just want to be loved?
I'm hopeful that Bioware will make it seem believable as a part of the ME universe, and not as part of the Gears of War universe or the Star Wars universe (hey, what if Joker landed the Normandy in the belly of a giant Thresher Maw, like what happened in Empire Strikes Back? That'd seem totally believable, given the size of the thing).

Seconded.
I would love it if one of the LIs was dying from something completely outside Shepard's control; would make Thane's romance subplot stand out from the rest.
