Yes, Salarians are short lived. I guess Mordin will stay on the Normandy. But just as a professor and not as a selectable squadmate.
That's just my theory.

My theory after playing ME2 was similar. I said to myself... if I can' t have my 12 man squad back... they better at least be maning those empty station seats on the Normandy... and be there to chat!  Normandy has plenty of room for crew and familiar faces.

Can't wait to see what happens to the Normandy after the Alliance gets done with it.

I have a feeling that will be the case. Mordin is getting too old for combat (even though he can still move it :P) So I am expecting him to be along and to be my awesome scientist just not as a full fledged squadmate as he was before.

I think the Alliance will remove the Cerberus logos, but also all the upgrades (if you made some).
Start from scratch.

I'm glad he brought up the retrofuturism. I found it to be a defining character of ME1, but greatly missing in ME2 - in fact, in music I only remember getting that vibe on the Collector Ship.

Another thing I noticed between the games, in ME1 the small Mass Relay cutscene packed a real bass thump, the ME2 version sounded pretty emasculated in comparison. Wrex's voice on a good sound system was also a revelation. I hope the lower octaves aren't neglected this time around, certainly the AR sounds promising. :)

I get the impression the 'emasculated' jumping in ME2 is as such in sort of a weird, 'no more need for oomph here, you've done this hundreds of times' kind of way. I still prefer said oomph to be present, though.

I think I like the look to the jump more in 2 but the sound effects are definitely cooler for it in the first game.

There really should be two covers. One with the obligatory male Shep and one with the female Shepard who is the only actual real Shepard.

Agreed, the female shep is soo much more inspiring, and the voice acting has ALOT to do with that. Fem shep voice vs. male shep voice....wow no camparison, fem shep wins everytime.

But of course we live in a world where when it comes down to it, the man is the media icon. Even if the fem shep is way better done than the male shep.

I encourage everyone to have two saves, one as male and one as female. You'll see the difference real quick.

I disagree.

Jennifer Hale puts way to much emotion into Shepard. I don't think thats how a space marine of Shepards caliber - nomatter what background - would act.

That's why I prefer Maleshep. And thats how a space marine would act - not getting excessively aggressive or nice in casual situations. And with that, when he does display strong emotion - it's powerful.

Not everyone likes her butchy voice as well.

Jennifer Hale is way to overrated on this forum.

Exactly. Hale tries too hard.

I think both Meer and Hale have their own strengths. Hale does the one on one scenes with much more emotion and Meer delivers the sarcastic, badass renegade lines really well.

Personally, I prefer Meer voice. I just think that Sheploo suits the story better.

After doing like 5 MaleShep runs, at first I thought FemShep was too boring. I personally thought that she couldn't really be bothered to do some lines, rather than the sarcasm that it was meant to be.

But as I warmed up to her voice it seemed so much better. However, I still think Mark Meer is the better voice actor.

Mark Meer really shines for Renegades and Hale for Paragon

Hey guys and girls! I just got my new issue of the hungarian Gamestar, and guess whats in it? A six page long (with small letters) world premier article about Mass Effect 3. It wasn't even announced on their website, so it's a total surprise for me.... :o

Now I have to read it. If it has some (kinda) new info, I'll translate it for you. Since it's already out I shoudn't be banned or anything for it. (It would be so much better if I had a scanner, but oh well...)

Just stopped by Gamestop and picked up the May edition.... so for those of you state-side, most Gamestops should have the issue on shelves today.

Alright, so it's basicly the same content as the GI article (yes, I read it elsewhere, how rude from me), but it's spiced up with more local coloured humour, and writing style.
So the main things are (you can look it up in another threads too):

- You start months after ME2 on a trial regarding your actions in the Arrival DLC, and they still not believe in the Reaper threat. Then the news broke in that an invasion is coming, and than you can see the Reapers yourself, destroying everything. They start the invasion on Earth, and you have to escape.

- You escape with the modified Normandy SR2. The Alliance inpounded your ship end they started studiing and rebuilding it.

- You will keep your abilities form ME2, and they can be upgraded forward, and there will be more morphed, and alternate version (take that want-more-rpg whiners)

- the shooting gameplay will basicly stay the same, but now every class can use every weapon, but with restrictions in numbers. The soldier will be the only one who can carry all of them. (I'd wager that the vanguard and infiltrator can carry three, and the rest can carry two)

- The AI will be more sophisticated, and they will think as a unit, taking advantege of their specified role (healing, support abilities, etc.), and the environment (one crew lay down supressingf fire, the other flanks you)

- So there will be no more stay in cover, wait 'til the blood veins disappear. You have to change positions more, and be tactical about it. but the cover systerm will be more fluid, and you'll have more moves, like rolling, jumping over obstacles on the move, and varied melee moves.

- You can pick up every dropped weapon, and the weapon mods will return, so you can make your armory more diverse, and not just by statistics. Every mod will change your weapon's appearence.

- Cerberus is out to kill you, but there's no explanation why. I think there won't be 'til the release of the game. Or more like I hope so. But they really serious about it, they won't just send goons, but elite cyber-space-ninjas. (they told that melee attacks will be more in need, maybe thats why.)

- There will be an interactive comic for newcomers, or if you want to start a new game.

- The confirmed possible squadmates/cameos (wasn't specified) are: Garrus (of course), Kaiden/Ashley, Legion, Wrex, Mordin, Anderson. And the confirmed new companion James Sanders. He represents a newcomer for the galaxy. He's experienced but didn't see as much of the galaxy as you. (I think he's mainly there for the newcomers, but come on who starts an rpg-trilogy with the ending.)

- The weapons will have more punch, especially if you hit the different weak parts of different enemies. You can even shoot down parts of their armor for more effect, or to slow them down.

- When fighting the Reapers you will fight ther husks, but from now on they will be more varied. There are pictures of rachni husk and a batarian husk.

- You will take part in space battles, but it's not specified how. And the battlegrounds will not be small arenas with many obvious cover, but larger spaces with more possibilities.

Well basicly that's all. If I'll have time, I scan the pages, and upload them. If not, then sorry.

PS: If there are mistakes in spelling, or anything than, consider this. I just got home from a 12 hour shift in my workplace, and I only slept 5 hours.

I've read this article five times. o.o I want to make grabby hands at ME3. I never was too bothered by mining, but I won't be sorry to see it go. I liked mining better than traveling around the Mako in ridiculous terrain and finding deposits.

Also, regarding VAs...I definitely prefer Hale to Meer. I only managed about five minutes of his voice....but Hale...I love the way she delivers lines.

I swear, finding people who enjoy both voices a great deal really seems a difficult task. And trust me, it's not just like this here. I'm a long-time poster on GameFAQs, a long-time commenter on Kotaku and io9, even a TrekBBS and GateWorld veteran and everywhere I go, 95% or so of Mass Effect fans love one of the voice actors' performances and loathe the other.

I don't have a problem with any of that. If you're going to be tasked with saving the galaxy, you'd best be allowed to roll out of harm's way and creatively bludgeon your enemies.

I dont give a damn about complaints. Better options&abilities to evade surround in supposedly much harder ME3 insanity mode will be good. Taking into consideration that ME2 is way too easy.
