TIM certainly made clear he was out there to stop the Reapers ('fight the Reapers'). Pay more attention.
@Faerlyte: wouldn't surprise me... but I think TIM would exceed his grasp if he'd try that.

Actully he never right out says we need to stop the reapers, its always about the Collectors.

He speaks (and writes) of fighting the Reapers multiple times.

Turning Legion in:

"I'm extremely pleased with the intact geth you retrieved. It's a fantastic study opportunity and will definitely help our efforts to develop technology to fight the Reapers."

On the base:

"Our best chance against the Reapers is to turn their own resources against them."

"My goal is to save humanity from the Reapers. At any cost. I've never hidden that from you."

"Imagine how many lives could be saved if we keep this base intact and use its knowledge to thwart the Reapers."

"We've won a single victory. But we're still at war! This base will give us the technology we need to fight the Reapers."

During the ending:

"Against the Reapers and beyond."

His commentary on the "Mission Complete" screens sometimes mentions it as well:

"Krogan dangerous, but if recruited as shock troops against Reapers, extremely valuable."

"Likely to need quarian forces against Reapers."

I stand corrected.

Been months since I've played either of the mass effects, although all this buzz regarding three has made me want to play through them again.

If thease dates are correct on gameinformer.com the game will be realeasing on 11/1/2011 so i dont know they mean january or november cause in europe we write (month first, day second, year on the end ) in usa they write arround so its confusing sometime lol. I belive january is mostly scenario cause hollidays 2011 and if u see on trailer there is snow in the end so i bet on that date. But Bioware is full of suprisseses xd we will see when they tell us. But i hope they will relaese in november.B):)

You do realise this is May 2011? So unless Bioware has a time machine they can't release it in January 2011.

Pretty sure he meant November 2011. (day and month are switched in America).

what do you guys want to see in ME3?

Edit: since according to game informer past decisions are gonna have massive impact, im hoping for Shiala to be playable for paragon shepard.

I'd personally like to see a team-up of Grunt and Wrex in some sort of 'krogans hold the line'  battle/cutscene. I'd like those two to have more of a father-son dynamic, seeing as Grunt is somewhat of an orphan (and young) and Wrex took him in to clan Urdnot.

I think what's important is if Wrex joins your team at some point in the game, that he gets Biotic Charge.

Ok so I'm new to the boards so if there is a typo or my mini essay is in the wrong place im sorry. This is just for anyone who will hear. Also just as a disclaimer this is just my point of view and not a one sided rant. I have also read the GI article on ME3 so i know that the game is already in alpha stage and most features and story situations are already more then likely unchangable. In the end i will give my two cents on what i think could be done.

Alright, to start of I would like to begin by saying that I am a big fan of the Mass Effect trilogy, mainly Mass Effect 1. I think the sequel to ME1 was good but not as good as I thought it would be. I feel like the features that made the first game one of my favorite games of all time (and as another disclaimer i have been playing games since 97) such as the loot system, which was linked to the upgrading armor and weapons throughout the game was tossed for a less expansive and overly simple upgrade system. I dont think that it was terrible or trash but it took away from the core rpg feeling of ME1. I can say the same about the skill upgrade system for characters. In ME1 your healthy, skills, and accuracy were defined by how many skill points were placed in a certain skill. In ME2 it was simplified to fewer skills and variables. Accuracy was dependent on the person behind the controller, and health and shields were dependent on a small number of upgrades found throughout the game. When talking to my friends who were fans of ME1, they agree that ME2's upgrade system was "lame" compared to the first games and made things less fun. We all said we would roam around looking for new armor or upgrades, as in the sequel i didnt want to roam to find amounts of creds to pay for a small selection of items in the game. My friends who didnt like ME1 said that ME2 was easier for them since they didnt wanna grind but I feel like there is a happy medium that could be met for the fans of both.

As for the storyline for ME1 I found it to be very good and simple yet complex. You knew what you had to do but you could go to 3 planets in any order and the order effected some options at the other planets. In ME2 it was a simple find these people, do a odd job or two, head to the omega relay and bam home free. I replayed the first game almost 10 times because of all the different ways i could do things but have only replayed 2 twice because of the fact that getting squadmates and their loyality was very repeatative. Also it was hard to get into the story when the locations were so small. I could roam around the citadel in the first game for a long time as in the second game its not even the same place it seems. Everything was downsized and it took away fromt he experiance.

The levels of the games felt repeatative too because of how all the environments, objectives, and enemies looked the same. The character models for mercs were just recycled and repainted to fit the group. It was more fun to shoot stuff up in ME1 when there were different enemy types that looked different. Do all space mercs wear the same type of armor? Really?

My last point to hit on is your squadmates. In ME1 you could equipped everything over the rainbow to your teammates with some limits compared to ME2's less complex approach where you cant change the armor like you could in ME1. I know this was done to simplify the games mechanics for people who like shooters and not rpg's which I understand. To make games you need tons of money and to make profit you need to make tons of money and Bioware did it by expanding gameplay to fit a broader audience but in doing that they(you if a bioware employee is reading) left the original lovers of the series in the dust for the new untapped audience.

My thoughts on what to do about these things is simply bring back some form of the ME1 loot/upgrade system so as the game goes on i find things that make me stronger and tier the difficulty of the game instead of a small upgrade here and there. As for the story just dont make things repetative and make each mission or quest a new experience and unfamiliar. Bring back vast expansive environments like the original citadel and make everything unique. Please dont cut corners. Its the final game of a epic trilogy. Finish with a bang.

^ long post. Most of what you've said are already confirmed to be fixed... ie. more customization, broader range of levels, more open environments.

Crap... I'm conflicted.

Do I get this mag so I can talk about it with you lot, or do I go on a media blackout and be completely surprised when the game comes out?

Decisions, Decisions.

Casey Hudson, in his Twitter feed, said that there was a Cerberus mech that, if you killed the driver, you would be able to drive - does that count?
