Really? Like someone else said, you have to look the game hypes in other countries( japan for instance)

Try "Last Remnant".

If you honestly think that, you're not looking hard enough.

Nippon Ichi specializes in them, the Fire Emblem games are still going strong (Even if Shadow Dragon was rather flacid) just to name a couple.

Worst game ever. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

The game penalizes you for grinding, so the stronger you get the harder it becomes, until it comes to the point that is almost impossible.  What's worse I actually downloaded the trainer for it; and true story, I still lost. It was like an amalgam of all things wrong with JRPGs. The overused character and cliche plot (with the mandatory Johnny Yong Bosch hero's voice) and the almost immersion, the almost good mechanics and the god horrible character development.

Games like that one you just play for five seconds and then burn on a pyre. What bothers me the most about The Last Remnant is that it has the potential to be a good game, but instead is dragged down by all the awful design choices and what could had been a new interesting series becomes a one night stand. Their attempt at innovation blew on the face of everyone who bought that game.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I only played for a couple of hours. I'm for level scaling, since I abhor not having a challenge, but if it actually got impossible after a certain point...

Just wow.

The definition of an RPG is being able to define, develop and play a role (character). Other things we associate with the term are conventions of the genre, but not what defines them.

For example, Planescape: Torment is not an RPG. It's an Adventure game. Possibly Adventure-RPG, but certainly primarily an adventure game.

The BG games are action/adventure RPGs (my favourite type of game :)).

You don't think there was an roleplaying in Planescape:Torment, or even The Witcher for that matter?

The only thing about Nameless One that isn't malleable is his look :?

I guess we could define an RPG either as the literal meaning of the term or as the features that are unique to these games. Planescape: Torment had a lot of those features, enough to fall under the category.
