The same. People on the old forums speculated and swore up and down he was going to be a squadmate. All from one screenshot.

Most of our original squad seem to have other obligations, Wrex helping his people, Tali likely to join the Admaralty board, Liara in the information game. I would not be surprised if Garus becomes a Spectre and we loose him too.

Some could make a return, but I would not be surprised to see an almost completely new team.

This is what I was getting at.  I'm not sure about Tali or Garrus but definitely Wrex and probably Liara.  Also forgot that Jack is only along because you broke her out of prison after that it's whatever for her.  I could see her having more of a reason to stay if you romanced her but who knows as far as she goes.

I feel like with the set up that Earth is under reaper attack we are going to need to recruit multiple squads.  One will be on the front lines, in your squad, fighting beside you on missions.  These would include people like Ashley/Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Miranda, Jacob, and so forth.  Then there would be a support squad of people scientists, faction leaders, and support crew.  That would be Mordin, Wrex, Liara, Zaeed - with his ties to the blue suns if you kill Vido, Han'Gerrell/Shala'Raan, etc.  These people won't be on the squad, but on the Normandy serving as ambassadors to the various groups, providing you with upgrades, and intel.  Either way, they could still be around, just not fighting beside you.

Though I'm pretty sure we would have one human male and one human female by default. Just because humans are 'safe choice'.

A Turian biotic - In ME 1 Kaidan mentions he was trained by  Turians at Jump Zero, yet we never see a Turian biotic.  We have a wealth of asari (the particle effects go well with their skin tone I guess) and human biotics.  We even have a volus biotic.  But why no Turians? When ever we fight a turian in the game, they always seem to be the thick skinned, heavy armor, heavy weapon using types.  I think it would add some interesting diversity to the game to have a turian biotic.

We fought a biotic Turian in ME1.



Granted, he's the only one we've actually seen, but Turian biotics are supposed to be very rare.

Was Saren actually a biotic? I'm on the wikia page right now and I can't confirm it.

In a cinematic on Virmire, Shepard shoots him at his shields absorb it. This seem to behave more like shields than a biotic barrier. So I'm more inclined to say he wasn't a biotic. But now I will have to check to make sure.

I'm not sure what I want beyond that with regards to new squaddies, beyond perhaps other old faces that weren't previously squaddies like Kal'Reegar or Captain Kirrahe. I'm half-expecting there to be a batarian, simply because they seem to be the one squaddie-capable face left we haven't had one of yet (I don't really consider elcor, hanar and volus to fit the bill. And vorcha are just too geared to evil for it to make sense.)

No doubt we'll have a couple of new humans. I'd expect a new asari, perhaps more of a Vanguard style one. An asari commando maybe. Perhaps a biotic turian. A pure soldier salarian even (I suspect Kirrahe would be one of these). Beyond that, I don't know.

As the OP said, I'd love to see a Batarian (former/current SIU?). The female Krogan idea is also solid, as the could give us another take on that species. And make her the tech equivalent of a Vanguard - a close range tech user.

Kirrahe would be great, but again it all depends on if he is alive since he has the potential to die on Virmire, which decreases his likelihood of being a squaddie. Perhaps a cameo though.

You're just about to retake Earth from the Reapers and Kirrahe gives a "We held the line" speech. That would be awesome.

Just thinking though, it is possible to end the game with one squad member. If Zaeed is not loyal before you do the suicide mission and he survives the mission, with a high enough paragon score you can kill him on his loyalty mission, making you and whoever else survived the loyalty mission the only ones to survive.

I think I'm going to try to do this just to see what will happen.

You can't have a non loyal squad member suvive the mission if everyone else but one dies. Zaeed will die if put on any active role, and if everyone else is unloyal then there is no way for him to survive the "hold the line" part. As you'll have to take at least 1 loyal crew member with you to attack the reaper (otherwise shephard dies) then Zaeed will get crushed if he is also with you and unloyal. 

back on topic:
I don't want to see anyone on my team who I don't already know the name of. That can mean that new squad members could be people you simply met before (like Shiala or Kirrehe).
Hopefully the team will get more refined rather than that entire army you leave on the Normandy every mission because you can only take 2.

i understand that some of my ME2 squad might not be back, the only ones i want to return are tali, grunt, legion, mordin(just cause i want to hear him sing again), garrus, now for as who i'd like as replacements i don't really know a batterian would be nice though

A Roarschach-like sociopath. In other words a sociopath with principles.
Anderson - He deserves to be there when darkness falls and light finds it way.
A Spectre, rogue or still in office. - Tela Vasir, Nihlus or Saren are perfect examples. These characters are loved, and not without a reason. It would also bring back some atmospheric feeling about the first game. After all, Spectres were an important part of the story there.
And someone voiced by Michael Ironside. That can't go wrong.

Kal'Reegar won't be a squadmate, but James Sanders and Anderson are great.
