A Batarian, just because they are the most humanoid species NOT already having a squadmate represented.

Maybe a Volus engineer/hacker?
A Vorcha, although I have NO idea how he'd be handled.
Some kind of hybrid Rachni? (smaller than the ones in ME1, since it just doesn't make sense to have something that large randomly following you around)
Here's a scenario I've thought of for recruiting a Vorcha teammate:
A15-19 year old ex-Blood Pack mercenary who's body has been adapted to being as strong as a tank from all the battles he's been in is disillisioned about his life and the social standing of the Vorcha in the Terminus Systems and decides to go out in a blaze of glory by taking out the Krogan leader(s) of the Blood Pack(his former boss(es)) and/or free some Vorcha they've recently kidnapped(to be forcibly trained into BP mercs like he was). Naturally, Shepard "just happens" to be in the area,intervenes,strikes a deal with the guy to take out the Krogan(s) and free his people in exchange for recruitment.
He can also tell some Zaeed like stories of his past(with a Vorcha twist!) like how he's lost limbs(and later regrew them) in heavy combats he's been in.
So yeah, creating a scenario for a Vorcha to join Shep's team isn't that hard.
But it's implied that the Vorcha aren't the introspective kind who would even think it demeaning to his people to b used as mercs etc.
I like the idea, but it seems like the vorcha are being relegated to cannon fodder.
Cool and well-written, but I don't know if BW would adapt such a scenario.

You're forgetting one thing, the Blood Pack started off as a Vorcha gang before it was taken over by the Krogans. That's another reason why a Vorcha would want to kill them, to make it Vorcha run again!
The codex also talks about how due to racism the Vorcha have no other option but to become mercs. It seems implied that the reason why the Vorcha worked with the Collectors in Mordin's recruitment mission was because they wanted to uplift themselves"Collectors make us strong rawwwwrgh!".

My ideal squad would be Kaiden/Ashley, Liara, Garris, Tali, Legion, and EDI. Trisha Helfer does the voice of EDI, she was most famously know for playing "the sixes" on Battlestar Galatica so she already played a robot once before. Fraking toaster! I think it would be awesome if Tali and Legion (or whoever your tech crew is), using quarian, geth, human and prothien technology create a mobile body for EDI. Its totally possible. I think it would be cool to see a basic robot, almost like a mech...but with a hologram projection of Trish Helser over it, similar to AVINA the hologram on the citidel. So you can sorta see the robot under it, but it would be cool in battle if when her shield goes down the hologram would shut off to divert power. Trisha Helfer is already confirmed to be back as EDI, and this would give her a more physical presence in the game. Anyone else like this idea?
