So, I have Windows 7 and Directx 11... why can I not choose the Very High option under Video? I've made sure my graphics card is updated (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT). Is my card too old now? I don't know what the latest one is, to be honest, or how mine measures up any longer. I don't pay much attention to that sort of thing, and I'm not too savvy when it comes to computer hardware.

The 8800 GT is not DX11 compatible, so you can't run the game in DX11 on that card.

It is my understanding that the GTX line of Nvidia cards are all Directx11 capable though, should you wish to upgrade.

Close, but not quite. The GeForce 400 and 500 series are the only cards with true DX11 function. The GTX 280, for example, will run DX10.1... which will allow you to play some, but not all the DX11 effects in the game.
Nvidia seems to use "GT" for their standard performance cards, "GTX" for cards marketed towards gaming, and "GTS" as cheaper (less expensive) gaming cards. A 400 or 500 series "GT" card is not going to help you much for 3D gaming, even though they are technically DX11 compatible.
If someone is considering an upgrade, they must also factor in their CPU's age and capabilities. The Dragon Age series in particular is extremely CPU-intensive... although DA2 seems to be using a more optimized version of the engine than DAO.

The 8xxx series are DX10 compatible, so (s)he'll be able to run the DX11 renderer, just not on very high settings.

Yes, but what he/she means is that he/she can't run the game using DX11, and that's what the OP was asking.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

To the OP, to clarify it a bit: High uses DX10 functions, Very High uses DX11 functions, but you have to use the DX11 renderer (game option) for both, and I think that that's what confuses people. Anyway, the 8800 is only DX10 capable, as has been mentioned already... so no, no Very High settings for you, sadly. But still, the game looks great even in DX10, and you can also try the high quality textures too if you wish, and if you hadn't already.
