I actually like this cast more than the DAO cast (which was also excellent). It's just that these characters show more personality development in response to your interactions with them. My main complaint is that there are relatively few interactions... you have to rely on party banters to learn more about them.

Aveline 0 - never really needed her - since Hawke was the warrior
Bethany 0 - since shes only available for a short time 
Carver -2 - so glad he was only available for a short time
Fenris -2 - on Nightmare - Fenris killed more allies then bad guys
Isabela 0 - stopped using her due to the bug
Merrill +2 - her blood magic was interesting - the jokes at her expanse were entertaining
Sebastian -2 - never used him - what a waste of $7

* Bethany and Carver require addendums. Pre-Deep Roads, Bethany is +1 and Carver is -1. Post-Deep Roads, it will depend on what happened to them. As this is a 'No Spoilers' forum, I hate to go into detail. However, it is possible that Bethany and Carver can wind up greatly approving of the situation they find themselves in, even if they are angry at you at first, such that at the end in Act 3, I increase both (yes, even Carver) to +2 (IF they wound up in the situation that they prefer, in the end.)

Varric +2 - Best "buddy" ever !
Aveline +2 - One of the most refreshing character of this game, nice and honest without being naive, and one of the few spared the Hawkemaniasexuality.
Bethany +1 - A shame she's my sister and not my love interest.
Merrill +1 - Kinda cute and fun.
Fenris +1 - I like this kind of brooding dignity and ruthlessness.
Anders -1 - Kind of whiny and irritating.
Isabela -2 - Boring and stupid.

Can't rate Carver, considering I didn't saw him more than ten minutes.
Love my mom, though.
