Dog count against you for the unstoppable achievement?

I've completed two years without having a companion go down (yes, it did take a reload or two thanks to Anders being dumb) but I still have yet to get this achievement.

I first did this in Act 3 of the last playthrough (which I read some people had trouble getting in Act 3) so I'm like ok but now I have just done it here in Act 1 of this playthrough and still no achievement.  The only thing that I can think of is that maybe the dog counts against you?  I play on Nightmare so it's not exactly easy to not go down for a full year, but I'm tired of accomplishing this and not getting the achievement.

Can anyone shed some light on this matter?  I'm positive I have had no party member go down.  Hawke was a warrior in Act 3 and a rogue in Act 2 if that matters.

I'm absolutely certain it does not count against you.  I do not know why it is not working for you but I am certain the dog is not why.  I unlocked unstopable in nightmare Act 1 and the dog dissapeared frequently.  I was on the PC though so maybe if you're on a console the dog could be screwing it up.

Ahh!  You edited!  Well I am on the PS3 but why would that matter?  The whole thing still seems sketchy.....  Can anybody else shed some light on this?

It matters because the console versions aren't the same game. There are more than a few bugs that affect only the console versions and not the PC or vice versa. So there's really no telling if the fact that you're on the PS3 makes a difference. All I can say for sure is that on the PC the dog 100% did not count.

Dog does not count toward the achievement. Unless of course you count the times your mage tries to heal it but cant target it sticking in a loop and lets one of your actual companions die as a result.

Certainly happened (thank you Anders) but then I just reloaded so what gives?

That's your problem.  I can personally tell you that even if you reload, the death still counted against you.

When I was still trying for the achievement, someone died because I got distracted, so I thought okay I'll just reload.  That was the only time anyone died, but at the end of the Act I didn't get the achievement.  So you have to do one Act with no one dying ever, period.  Treasure trap injuries don't count and dog doesn't count.

i guess....  I've read numerous posts that say reloading is ok, however.

I was on the PC. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I can honestly say there was nothing else that could have caused it though, other than that death that I thought wouldn't count if I reloaded. I played through one Act on Casual just to get the achievement, and to be safe I did not collect any treasures in trapped rooms and never even had my dog out.

Yeah but that's just so lame.  I'm currently playing Act 2 without ever activating the dog so we'll see if it clicks (I'll post back the results).  If this doesn't work then I guess I'll make a solo Nightmare run my next priority after this.  Sod it all!

I had deaths in my run for it, reload, got it no problem.  I would reload instantly though, like before they hit the ground.

I'm ps3 btw.

I got it on the first act and I reloaded a few times.. I dunno maybe it's injury based? If a trap got me and I got an injury from it I would reload just incase.. perhaps that's what happened?

I have 5 achievements showing as correct here in BioWare's site, BUT NOT ON THE X-BOX 360. So it is likely it's a glitch that hopefully will remedy itself. Even meeting the agent for the divine shows here in my achievements, but not on my X-Box. STRANGE, YES? That particular achievement- losing no characters, shows up fine on the X-Box and here. Who freaking knows? I think in time they will al show- I hope. :)

I definitely avoided those injury traps as well.  I've just been reloading the couple times I've fallen but I'm wondering, did you guys use the dog?  The dog is the only thing that I've let fall and not reloaded for.

Well, I just unlocked the Unstoppable achievement here in Act 2 and I never once summoned the dog in this Act. While I did not have a companion go down in either my last Act 3 from the previous playthrough nor from this playthrough's Act 1, looking back I have a couple of other theories as to what might've happened. I've read some people never getting the Unstoppable achievement in Act 3 no matter what, maybe that was the case for me. As for this playthrough's Act 1, well I did have companions go down during the very beginning of the game (before we ever see Flemeth, outside of Lothering). Perhaps that really does count against you even though I thought the case was otherwise.

Either way, for people having trouble, I would suggest focusing on getting this achievement during Act 2. I did have companions go down (especially because of Anders) but all I had to do was reload the game when that happened. Also, I went into the Fade solo just in case. Hopefully this helps someone get the achievement without being cheesy and adjusting the difficulty to baby. Enjoy!

I was solidly under the impression that the achievement only tracked the time from the prologue to the end of the Deep Roads expedition, rather than any one act at all. Also, on my unstoppable run the Dog was killed many times, and I reloaded several times, and I still received the achievement.

On the PC, for the record.

I think it must count your deaths even with reloads, cause I have tried twice to get this achievement. Both times I have avoided the regroup skill so that anders would not revive anyone without my notice, I avoided using dog. Still I never got the achievement despite loading every time someone died.

Its a rather lame achievement if it forces you to never die ever. I don't want to play on casual just for a damn achievement.

Reloads don't seem to matter as i had some issues with Brekker on nightmare randomly 1 shotting Varric or Anders but still got it. It does seem to act weird as i didn't get it in act 1 and i'm fairly certain no one died as i usually reload if someone dies and used bethany as healer/CC.

Don't know about the dog as i always forget to use him.

I did a casual act 3 run for this achievement only doing the major plot quests and did not get the thropy. 100% sure no one got knocked out i even finished off the Arashok to make sure, i did kill Anders and Fenris though so i'm guessing they still count.

No, I definitely got it with reloading.  PS3 version here.
