My rogues can't even pick a standard chest lock.  At level 15.  Whats up with that?? :pinched:

Your cunning isn't high enough.

Its based on cunning stats. Goes up 10 for every tier of chest iirc. Standard needs, erm, 20, I think. If you have that and its not working may be a bug?

Level up cunning as early as possible, at 40 you should be able to pick any lock (unless it's a plot related lock).

If you have the black emporium you can buy a makers sigh potion and redo your stats. (You usually want to put some in cunning and som in dex. The cunning ability to open locks i believe goes by 10 increments (as in each increment of 10 cunning points allows you to open one tougher category oc chest.

You can buy a cheap dagger from the weaponsmith in Lowtown that boosts lockpick skill... The name is "Thrice Bound" and it's available for like 1-3 gold in Act 1. I don't know the exact math behind it, but I know for sure that with 30 cunning you can unlock 40 cunning chests... I assumed it was +1 level, but I've heard it was +% based.... it's useful if you don't want to waste that many attribute points.

I wouldn't fret over it too much, the usefulness of traps and locks is marginal at best. Another strategy is to use two rogues, one for locks and traps, another for damage.
