I made a black character also, same issue. Yeah it was stupid... Because homos have more of a place in DAO mythos than blacks. GG Bioware; I'll be torrenting your releases from now on. Racists.

There is a difference between being a racist and just having a laugh at someones expense. I mean to be racist you really have to judge people on their skin thinking they are stupid or somthing. I dont think that at all. But you would go around saying that people from australia all live in a desert like crocadile hunter. Its the same bloody thing its called a generilation. I find you more racist because you take things completley out of context for what they mean.

Lets not forget that whole inncodent with the harry connik jr with the black faced micheal jacksons.
over 80 percent of australians thaught that stunt was not racist yet supposedly your media was outraged that we could make fun of a black man with a white skin disorder. Go figure

Oh, so it would be less racist to have black people act differently? Are you angry about not being able to have a black relationship or something?

Please tell me you were joking and I've fallen for a troll. I geniunly can't believe you can be homophobic while hypocritcally accusing Bioware of Racism. I mean seriously with a gay character they're obviously going to need to have a gay relationship, last time I checked the only difference between white and black people is skin colour and that doesn't need it's own dialogue option.

A lot of people talk about Ferelden being white because it represents medieval europe, or england or whatever.  The fact remains that Dragon Age allows you to make a human noble that is black (or not white, for that matter) and therefore it is silly that your in game family is white.  If they are going to be white there should be an explanation.  Does it make the game worse that there isn't? I don't think so.  Should it be fixed?  Better yes than no.

The man wants the noble family to reflect the colour of his own character. I don't see why there's so much resistance to his suggestion. Even if this game bares a few similarities to the medieval age it still is a completely different world from our own and I've yet to see anyone react to a character based on colour. Maybe Bioware could change a single parent to a darker tone; a nice simple solution. Honestly, I'm not really fazed with what happens here however. I'd rather they change the cheesy tune played during intimate scenes so I could avoid the stitches.

Its precisely that thinking that keeps race an issue. If people on both sides would stop treating it like it was such a big deal then it would cease to be weapon for the racist. Of course at the same time the minority would lose their race card, which i'm pretty convinced they wouldn't give up even if it would get rid of racism. The reason you can make a black character is because Bioware would be ripped to shreds if they didn't put that in. It can also be explained, you could be a bastard son from a relationship with a servant or a foriegn merchant your dad met on his travels. You could even be adopted or something. It's easier to explain why one son/daughter is a different skin tone than trying to explain why an entire noble family is obviously not from Ferelden.



I'm guessing Ferelden has it's bigotry and racism just as much as any other society. I'm also guessing that all the noble families are native, well as close to it as you can get, to the country. Now I'm not saying there couldn't be a foriegn family which gained nobility BUT it have to be explained ingame. The problem is that's not really worth it as they then would have to cater for a million different character choices.

You've got a point.  I think the black/white contrast is simply more apparent.  Thus, we were the first to bring it up.
