...please, please work on the armor/costume designs for DA3! I absolutely adore all three sets of the Champion Armor, as well as a fair amount of rogue outfits for F!Hawke (the ones that are more form-fitting; like the outfit you start out with if you worked your year off with Athenril). I also love the Chantry robes, and the detail in Sebastian's armor.

If any future game takes place in Orlais, then I hope the designers look at stuff by Alexander McQueen for his lavish outfits, Badgley Mischka for their wonderfully opulent dresses, and maybe some of Balmain's (women's collection) hard-edged designs could be turned into armor. I am a bit of a fashion junkie, and the costume design (if that is the right term) was one of my favorite improvements for the game.

I remember playing DAO, and saving up a ton of money to buy The Felon's Coat. I totally pictured it would look like this incredibly sleek black armor, and when I put it on...it looked exactly like the Provocateur armor I was already wearing. :crying: I was so sad.

I agree with you, whoever designed the champions outfit made an awesome job. I love all three sets.

It would be nice to see a remake of some set of DAO in DA2. Like the Blackblade Armor Set of Awakening or the Robe of the Witch for the female mage, and many more

Gosh, the Champion armour is totally ugly.

I don't think anyone at Bioware is into fashion or trends, cause they have like no clothes whatsoever in the games that look any good for your character.

Something like a tight bodice, tight leather pants and thigh-high leather lace up boots is so sexy and medieval.

Champion armour is the ugliest piece of ****e ever.

The Champion armour is as to quote Nick Frost in Hot Fuzz, "**** ugly".

Not calling people trolls...it just seems unreasonable in my mind for someone to say
THIS ARMOR IS THE UGLIEST PIECE OF **** EVAR!!!!111oneoneone lol

But I do understand they want realistic armor and DAO succeded greatly in that aspect compared to other games.
IMO only having classic armor style would get boring. The champion armor is something special that has not been done before and felt awesome getting instead of a classic set iv already worn thousands of times.

Well when people have a malicious nature and intent with thier posts it sometimes comes off as trolling, a simple "I don't like it" would suffice, but you got people from out of left field saying the armor is "anime inspired" (which it isn't) or "**** ugly" and in general just bashing it "just because" its hard to tell the trolls from the... not-trolls(?).

I love the champion armour, all 3 sets. Though would love to see some other armour during the game that looked half as cool.

Yes you can. You totally can. People have been doing it since the dawn of the interwebs. Does it make it right? No. Does that stop anyone? No.

Love the Mage Champion armor, also don't mind the clawed gloves for the Rogue Champion armor. Kinda gives the illousion that you climb up walls.

Love the champion armor except the helmet. The Warrior helmet is just weird.

I agree, aside from the helm I love the set. Same basically for the others.

The warrior set was love at first sight though. I started up the demo for the first time, got the class select screen and was like Posted Image

Ignore everyone bashing the armor. I loved it too.

That's a very reasonable attitude. :pinched:

As many have pointed before me, the rogue one was... unfitted, to say the least.

The rest of them haven't tried yet, but they look better from the screenshots I've seen so far.

See, I love how... if you're a warrior, your armor IS realistic in one particular way. Plate and mail, not just a bunch of plates smashed together like a tin can warrior. Granted, the spikes and stuff aren't realistic but uh...

... fantasy. Dragons. Mages.

I like the champion sets, especially the Mage version. I would love it if you could make the feathers look like feather instead of plastic ...something?

I agree with the OP. I really enjoyed all of the armor but the Champ stuff is the best. Sorry for you all that like the hyper realistic armors. I don't play this game for realism I play it to get away from realism and if this is what their fantasy world looks like than I am good with that.

Thanks Bioware.

As a Mage, anyone else keep the Mercenary armor until Act II where they could get the Pirate armor just so they didn't have to wear robes? I'm doing that playing on Hard and so far, great decision. My Mage actually looks like an Apostate and not some drab Circle Mage.

Oh, and I like the Champion Armor too. Nothing wrong with a little flair now and then, and nobody has to wear it if they don't want to.

Do a bit of research on medieval armor and you will find a similar "feeding trough" in some armors. It seems to have been made like that to protect the warrior's neck yet giving them space for movement. The Champion armor design is probably derived from that.
Take that piece of metal out and it will just look boring. It gives it a certain edge. IMO.

It's a bevor I know. It's just.... I don't know, positioned a bit too low on the chest.

If I had the skills with the Blender, I would just move it a bit up like this

In any case, I don't really mind, the whole spiky design is actually quite pleasant to look at and I can always pretend the "fake bevor" is being used for journal reading.

Ionno, the armor (at least the warrior version, haven't looked much at the others) didn't exactly look overly spiky to me. The angles that are there would probably help in deflecting blows.
The "feeding trough" is quite a bit too low though I think.

In the end, I liked it. I just wish there had been, well, more.

For my mage, I just swapped the inquisitor armour look for the champion and voila! Cassandra has a rather sharp look and my mage looked like a blonder version of her.

The Mage Champion Armor actually looks cool.

The Warrior Champion Armor looks absolutely ridiculous, and I cannot take Hawke seriously when he's wearing it. It's trying -so hard- to be cool and edgy and it ends up looking like it was scavenged from . . well, from a bone pit.

Speaking of Champion Armors, why do we not have a Wade-esque ingredient/forging quest for this armor? I mean, the 'signature' armor of the famous Champion, and he just finds it in bits and pieces all over Kirkwall?

Champion's armor looks great and gives you something to look foward to in Act 3. In DA:O, I wore the same boring, tired-looking leather armor from beginning to end, whether I was born into nobility or not. The Champion of Kirkwall can't been seen in any old armor, you need style.

You summed up my mage playthrough near exactly.

I actually think there are some high fashion elements in the rogue and mage pieces. Also, I have the option selected where I only see the hoods on my inventory screen and not when I am playing, so none of them really bother me.

Also, did you play as a rogue yet? There are several rogue outfits that are pretty much as you described (knee high boots, though). Granted, not any of the "special" armor that you have to collect pieces for, but some pretty good ones nonetheless.

Which designers do you buy pieces from (in real life)? While I would like them to incorporate more elements from certain fashion houses, the word "trends" scares me. I am big on tailoring, so I am happy when they have armor that highlights your shape, and I think they did a better job in this game than in the previous one.

Haha. I wish I did this earlier with my first mage. It's such a small thing but it really makes a big aesthetic difference.

BioWare really needs to give their Mages more pants...
