So if DA3 has realistic armour will you all be complaining it looks dull and boring? Just can't seem to please people on these forums

I really liked the Mage Champion set. The Warrior set is quite simply not a well designed set of armour -I don't mean aesthetically I mean there are too many places for a weapon to catch. Heavy armour should deflect the force of blows, not channel them like a tsunami entering a harbour.

I would have liked if there was more earning the Champion's armour.  It was earning through a series of quest, but to fit it more story wise, have someone build it for you.  Then again I think they didn't want to reuse the idea in DA:O.  So I guess this works.  I like how in the end you collect a certain set of armour for yourself.  And for those complaining, the same idea was used in DA:O with the Drake/Dragon(bone/)skin Armour set.

Yeah, & hey, could we also ask them to take a gander at armor smithing books too? Cause I hate the over the top anime armor I'm forced to wear i.e. the Champion Armor.

Anime.. right.. now we're comparing the Champion armour to anime armour.. c'mon, now this is getting pathetic.  I bet Morrigan's robes were anime, too.  In fact, that plain Sword they use sure looks like it came from Japanese cartoons!

Seriously, just fauxing stop with that stuff, it is so petty.

I really liked the different armour looks in Dragon Age 2. I think my all time favourite is the Last Descent Set in Act 1, with Mage Champion second and Rogue Champion being third. You still had the odd "realistic" looking armor, but also had the variety that Origins lacked. Overall a much better direction then origins in terms of armour.

Never thought of that but maybe getting the sword stuck is a tactic? xD

I hate all three champion armors. And they are practically forced upon you, since they have no competition. I seriously considered using an inferior but better-looking set, but the stats are so superior in the Champion's, you end up using it even if you hate it. It's like Bioware wanted everyone (the companions, who can't change outfits, and Hawke) to look in a pre-planned way towards the game end.

How about whoever designed Anders's mage robes designs the mage robes for DA3? And whoever designed the Ferelden Field Armor designs the Warrior armor.

Or not, it looks spikey and silly, I'm not a fan.

However, I will agree that more armor graphics in general would be nice (and having special armors look special is also nice) but having a SINGLE set of end-game armor is just lame.

Agreed. I liked knowing in DAO I could acquire one of the best sets of armor early on if I wanted too.

I'm not seeing the Anime in DA2. But, that's ok, facts need not apply if you have an agenda.

Take a gander at Final Fantasy. Really detailed armor, not realistic or remotely wearable, or combat worthy.

Booooring. If I want to look at historical recreations, I'll go to an SCA/ren fair. And I never go to those, because they're lame.

Besides, that highly ornamental armor would never have been used in battle anyways. It's just as out of place as the "anime" armor you dislike.

What is with the chest-shelf on the Champion mage robes? Does it hold Hawke's Ye Olde Magic Book of Spells during battle?

Personally I liked them all. I especially loved the rouge's Champion Armor.

Look, fantasy!!!:o You know, where heroes takes deadly blows like if they were just flesh wounds unless they reach 0 hit points. Yeah, totally realistic. Where characters goes scavenging barrerls in the streets for coin and equipment (and in houses too). Where characters never have the need to use a restroom (or a potty!). Where characters can be running around for hours and never get tired. Where...

In general, I prefer "realistic" armor and weapons. But as long as it doesn't look totally ridiculous, I'm fine. That said, an extra fantasy touch to the most special armors/weapons (like the Champion's) is nice because they help them to stand out. Not that you really need spiky things or whatever, but extra details that make it "shine" are nice to have so my character doesn't look like "Warrior Number 410,138,395" or "Commander Number 824,280".

I don't see the anime either. I think its rather funny to read all the complaints of realism, or lack of rather in a game where you can toss fireballs, ice, and lightning at enemies. But thats okay, because the armors are so unrealistic.

Why do people constantly bring this up, like it's a good point?

Have you considered where the logical endpoint of that thinking is? Since there is magic there is no need to conform to realism at all.

My opinion is that the Champion armour was horrible, not that I particularly liked many of the armours from Origins either, I think they suffered from the usual oversized pauldron syndrome that seems to blight so many games. Still, they were a bit better than DA2 and I definately do not like the new direction of making everything flashier and spikier and I suppose ''cooler''. I thought this was supposed to be gritty dark fantasy, even magic comes at a terrible price in Thedas, I don't want to see warriors wearing exaggerated WoW armour (not saying we're there yet, but we'll get there at this rate), getting pseudo-magical powers as standard, or jumping 20 feet into the air during combat.

Yes, the 'But there is magic so ...' argument is so utterly feeble I cannot fathom why people keep regurgitating it.

The simple fact is Dragon Age in its inception was based on Martin's Westeros.  A world that has magic, and yet (shockingly) is also realistic.  Origins, for the most part, held true to it.  This was what attracted many to it in the first place.  Dragon Age 2 has discarded its roots altogether.

Just because some mage somewhere can fart fire doesn't mean a smith is going to forge ****e armour.
