I picked up ME1 and ME2 on a whim at a used game store about six months ago. I'd watched my little brother complete ME1, but I had no idea what to expect in ME2. Never saw any promotional materials, never read any reviews, I just bought it on the strength of the first game and the Bioware name.

ME1 was fun.

ME2 was spectacular.

ME2 was freaking AMAZING the first time I played it. Edge of my seat the entire game. The opening sequence floored me. The ending was the most intense series of quests I can remember going through. My entire experience was made that much more awesome by the fact that I had no idea of what was going to happen.

So now, I make this pledge; after getting just a few tidbits from Game Informer subscribers, I am henceforth shutting my eyes to anything related to ME3 until it comes out.

It will be difficult, but it will also make the game that much more awesome.

Anyone else want to take the pledge with me?

I always make it a point to play a game without spoilers, barring my little sister who likes to spoil things, but I've got short term memory like a sieve so I can quickly forget any spoilers from her anyway.

Oh, I don't plan to abandon the forums, and I'll still post my share of conjectures...

Just don't want to go looking for any spoilers, is all.

Agreed, although I still want to know more about the gameplay changes, I want NOTHING to do with the story until I play it.

The problem is, news about gameplay changes is almost always intermingled with news about the story.

I want to - desperately. But everytime I hear that there is new ME3 news, my ears perk up like a cat and I start scrounging Google. I was the same when I was like 8 about a week before Christmas.

Yeah, that's the ticket... As long as I stay away from any STORY tidbits... I'll be okay.

...

Oh god I need another hit. Quick, somebody grind up GI into a cigarette paper.

I read an online article about someone who read it. He had spoiler highlights which was good, so I didn't look at them (The first sentence of where you start was spoiled, but wasn't a big deal since it's what I expected). I read about the gameplay changes and it sounds beautiful...

Same here. As soon as I finish my Arrival playthroughs on all my profiles, I'll go into hibernation and start playing Oblivion again.

Yeah, I should finish DA2 instead of wallowing around here... or go to bed and distract myself with DA2 tomorrow, oh how mediocre that game feels after Mass Effect 2...

I am going into ME3 blind, too. Every single Mass Effect game has been amazing, and Mass Effect 2 was possibly one of the best games I have ever played. I am really looking forward to ME3.

Unfortunately, I no longer feel the same about Dragon Age after DA2. It's not a bad game, but I wouldn't have purchased it for 60 dollars had I known more about it. I was severely disappointed. I guess I should have saw it coming after DA:Awakening and the plethora of underwhelming DLC. The gameplay was fun, the story was okay... the environment, while detailed, was like an endless load of crap.

Anyways I'm really, REALLY digressing. Looking forward to ME3 and SW:TOR!

I agree.  I was not spoiled for ME1 (out of pure coincidence, I didn't look up anything about it, I bought the game for one reason, and wihle I was disappointed I didn't get what I was after, I deeply enjoyed it for entirely different reasons), and I purposely avoided spoilers for ME2 successfully.  I avoided the forums for a day or two until I completed the game.

I will do the same for ME3, but I am not going to avoid looking at what characters are revealed etc.  Just don't want to be spoiled by the climax or secrets that are supposed to surprise me.  A certain Turian in ME2 and a certain reaper in ME2 both come to mind as things that surprised me and I enjoyed.

I'm with you! I did this with ME2 (except some squad stuff) and it was amazing! It's hard to stay away from the forums, but I think I will for the most part, except the news and announcements section.

I desperately do not want ANYTHING spoiled... I even consider some of the GI stuff spoiled for me, and this feeling of anger and regret of reading it has put things into perspective: I do not want to feel this way again. SO, no ME3 story spoilers for me please, and to do so, I might have to stay away. I did this for the Arrival DLC.... BUT that was only 1 week, this is half a year! AHHHH, I'm already breaking!
