Now why should the diplomatic and somewhat idealist methods of the Paragon be a bad thing?

Idealists tend to be abused and manipulated by people who aren't idealists. The thing is, idealists are detached from the way the world works. This leads them to make profound misjudgments about the motives and behaviors of others. This is a recipe for disaster.

Obviously diplomacy and charisma are important too and can do a lot of good, but the counteract to that is the above mentioned idealism and the dangers it presents.

A Renegade makes wiser decisions but fewer friends. However a Renegade doesn't endanger the galaxy like a Paragon does.

Anyway, I've watched your videos, but I didn't find them convincing.

Characters that BioWare says will be playable to some extent:

Liara
Garrus
Ashley/Kaidan
James Sanders[/b]

I'd just like to make a point this may not mean they are permanent squad members. I had hypothesized that Bioware would make a number of ME2 squad members playable for select missions only in ME3. I think this may yet be the case.

Ouch :crying: But I wanted them in my squad, chatting to each others :(

Imagine, for example, having Garrus and Kaidan together in a mission. Maybe one of them would shoot the other by mistake

Blegh, Liara? I hope not. God, why go to all the trouble of butchering her character so they can set her up as the Shadow Broker only to turn her into another gun-toting squadmate?

I hope this isn't true.

Hm. I'm surprised as well, but if it means you always have Liara's info network within arms' reach, this could be quite workable. It might also lead to some sidequests involving her... shadier dealings... as the new Broker.

Potential for win is impressive. Potential for fail has me somewhat apprehensive. Could go both ways, really.

If the Reapers know about the shadowbroker being Liara and a direct connection to Shepard they might go after the shadowbroker base as one of the first things they do, your mission then becomes to save Liara. She transfers all communications onboard the Normandy and uses it as her new base of operations to supply you with intelligence.

Now how the hell would the Reapers know about that?

Right, it makes sense to bring the Shadow Broker into combat where she might get her head blown off.

Her being on the ship? Fine. On the ground? No.

I can keep going spoiler free now.

My one worry has been soothed. ^.^

Amen.  I want Tali and Samara back too, but I must have Garrus.  He's my brotastic bromaster.  There's no way that the one and only Garrus-mother****ing-Vakarian wouldn't be at the biggest battle of the ages.

I suppose I won't hear anything about Thane until I actually play the game.

If he dies, it better be the most glorious, heart-wrenching death scene in the history of video games.

While I know Elite Midget will claim they will have minor side along missions or something. This does not prevent me from doing what is necessary.

I don't know but it would be a realistic way to recruit Liara, why otherwise would she ever leave the shadowbroker base when this is where she is most valueable? It could be possible that they know of the shadowbroker already, they might have known about the shadowbroker for a long long time. It's not like the existence of the shadowbroker is a secret :P

I would just like to point out that Liara was a squadmate in LOTSB. One mission. Don't leap to the conclusion that everyone mentioned in this article is going to be a full-timer.

I cannot be certain of the authenticity of the post given it came from GameFAQs, however the user in question did provide webcam pictures of the magazine. Regardless, it never hurts to discuss the possibility and those who do subscribe can confirm or deny here whether what was said is indeed accurate. Spoilers are obvious to some extent but according to Game Informer, the following has been confirmed.

Liara
Ashley/Kaidan
Garrus
James Sanders (believed to be the sniper from the trailer)

All four will be active squad mates, Garrus obviously dependent on his status at the conclusion of ME2. In addition, there is no multiplayer, Earth will not have significant involvement in the storyline and Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson are confirmed but not yet known to be squadmates.

The post can be found here. Take it for what you will.

Mordin... Garrus... Ashley... Wrex... Legion... Liara... all appearing. So. Much. Win!

I think Legion is going to be confirmed, because he's pretty important to some plots.

One thing that pisses me off here, though, is that this information is all from an American only magazine. So basically, fans from elsewhere, like Europe, are left in the dark, especially with screenshots.

I doubt we're going to get a relative of Kahlee's as a companion for only 20 minutes.

Yea, but as an European, let me say this: move to the US - Europe is a sinking ship.

Has it been confirmed that he's a relative? Also 20 minute cameo during the prolouge would be fine as long as he's not killed off.
