Given that this is a matter of ideal, rather than realistic, the heart is free to write.
Sharp features, even a little harsh, but defined and pleasing to the eye. Speaking of which, the eyes themselves would have to have a captivating quality - the sort of eyes that capture the attention, hold it and play with it.
Noble stock is preferable essential (the thread reads 'ideal'; does it not? :D) and a more than superficial understanding of cultural context and continuity is essential. The former helps ensure the latter. She would have to be intellectually engaging, without a doubt - though there is no need to be agreed about all issues, except for those particularly dear to my heart.
She must be well-spoken with proper enunciation and well-versed in various languages and literatures. Anyone who wasn't would likely leave me due to my obsessions with the aforementioned. :)
Dark hair is preferable, though an exception could be made for light hair depending on other factors. I'm partial to both the ballerina-esque figure of Audrey Hepburn and the classically beautiful figure - the appropriate of one or the other is a matter of body type and both are pleasing to the eye in different ways.

Well, time to throw my own in.

The ideal woman would be someone who had both a light and dark personality like myself - a good sense of humor, but a growling hunger for the sinister. It would certainly be 'ideal' for her to have an interest in the video game world, preferably not ones beginning with the words Mario or Farm. An interest in either classical, or metal would be fantastic. No real preference physically, though I admit I have a thing for long, dark curly hair.

Too bad she doesn't exist.

Move to Portland, Or - Dozens here! Mine is a slim chance of existing, but yours is a definite possibility.

I would like her to be tall(1.80 to 1.85 at least), to care for other people, to be kind, maybe a bit shy and to love cuddles!

I love girls with short hair, because they don't stand for that much in front of the mirror...

But only anime girls have all these stuff...

Is there really such a thing as an Ideal mate? In you mind. go back through all the people you've had a serious relationship with. At the time you were dating did you love any one of them more than the other because the way they had a certain hair type, skin tone eye color, or personality?

That is a debatable question as most can't really say "I loved this partner more, I can tell how intensely I loved him/her". There is far too many things to consider when it comes to honestly answering this question without a shadow of a doubt.

I think there will be always people you were with that you found something about them more attractive than others but at the end of the day an ideal person is more than about the right skin tone or hair style or whatever else. It's about finding somebody where everything just clicks into place and you feel comfortable.

I wouldn't say it to her face because she'd kill me XD. But i don't think she is the most attractive person i've been with but it doesn't matter because i love her.

I wasn't meaning to allude to a current LI to be perfect in every way, no human is. There is an ideal mate... in your head. My point was to at least give people an opportunity to think about what traits they look for in someone. Plus a chance to giggle at some of the responses....kidding. Sort of.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with that.  One mate would never meet all of my varied ideals.

she's my best friend and lover and and and..... my mother doesn't like her though...

See, I suspect my mother likes my significant other more than she likes me. Her first words to him? No joke, "I'm sorry." Yes, she apologized because he was with me.

Unfortunately for her, I'm her daughter, and so when I get into arguments with my boyfriend, she's obligated to side with me.

I find strong and aggressive women attractive who know how to take care of themselves, and who can stand up for  themselves without their bf/husband backing them up. You know....the complete opposite of the 'gurl stfu and get in da kitchen' mentality. In fact, chicks who take sh!t from guys like that turn me off big time.

Besides the shallow but important mandatory requirements of being brunette, smart and beautiful: Posted Image

Just off the top of my head:

My ideal mate (ideal is an illusion) shouldn't be a person that goes mindlessly with the flow who only cares about the current sheeple trends, she should have her own personality and point of views, her own style, her own opinions, she should be original.
That's one of the most important ''requirements'' for me, and this single requirement rules out about 99,54% of worlds population.
She should also be an outdoor girl, I simply can't stand b1tchy whiny city slickers that feel completely ''lost'' outdoors and start panting heavily after a 60 min walk uphill constantly complaining about the slightest physical challenges - she should love being outdoors as much as I do and be capable of understanding and respecting nature.
Another important thing is, I wouldn't want my partner to be overly girl-ish, what I mean is, she should also be interested in and be able to enjoy guy-things, kinda hard to explain, someone I could take camping and biking, do sports and that sort of things.
Oh, I could go on forever.....

In a nutshell: a very rare kind of person, in fact so rare that its stupid to hope meeting such a special person someday.

A cute science nerd. Who doesn't smoke, loves travelling and trying out new foods, and learning random bits about science. Generally curious and passionate about the natural world. And she should have good critical thinking skills - a skeptic but not a cynic. A humanist and naturally compassionate. That's about it. Oh, and gender: female. Mustn't forget that.

I was just thinking about this earlier today, in a roundabout fashion... Thing is, I don't know if I'm bisexual or not... but even so, I think I look for something else in a girl. So, thusly, speaking from absolutely zero experience and only about a male:

To get physical characteristics out of the way, I don't have a preference. The only physical commonality was a nice laugh and smile. Body type, ethnicity, height, and everything else have varied all across the board.

First and foremost, someone that won't **** and moan about everything. Has to be able to appreciate things for what they are and have the ability to be happy even if it's a simple day or place or time. Ergo, 99.9% of BSN is way out of the question, thank God. Someone who thinks before picking a side, and can voice his opinion clearly without offending people. Aware of the world. I don't need knoweldge about everything, but interest in other cultures is good... especially food. Needs to like discovering and finding new things and places.

Someone to ground me, because for all I try to be practical, I often get stuck in the world of ideas, so someone with a more practical mind... but pure math or science will drive me insnae because those subjects make me feel incredibly dumb. Engages in discourse, not debate. Religious orientation is moot, so long as it's reasonable and does not bully me one way or the other (so no flip atheists). A good heart is most important. Humor! A quiet confidence in whatever his hobby or skillset is. Intensity, devotion to the things he likes, the ability to focus.

Most importantly, desire indicates a lack, so to keep desiring, there needs to always be a bit of mystery, always something more I need to learn. :P
