hey all i'm new to the mass effect series and new to the forums but i was wondering if romance options in mass effect 2 are similar to the romance options in dragon age and dragon age II. example romance can swing either way if the player so chooses ect. hopefully this isn't a spoiler waiting to happen lol but as i stated i'm wondering if the main hero be it either male or female can possibly romance a person of the same sex like in the dragon age series.
new to the forums but would like to know if the romance options are similar to dragon age and da2?

For a male not so much, for a female sort of kinda, maybe. The humans don't swing both ways, strictly heterosexual. One of the aliens goes both ways though. Hopefully thats not too spoilery.
I think somewhere on the forums is a thread floating around on how to mod that on the pc though.

There is a member of the Normandy SR-2 crew that is female and can be "romanced" by a FemShep but not as an "official" LI & won't get you an Achievement,
Beyond that, I won't say so it won't be spoiled for you.
Also...you didn't mention it, but have you played ME1? If not you really should...there are a few decisions in ME1 that won't come to fruition until ME3.

Originally Ashley, Garrus, Kaiden, Jack and Tali were to be romancable by both genders. Sadly that content was cut. Liara isn't picky about gender though but if you're looking for m/m love (admit it, everyone is GAR for Garrus), then you're out of luck.

in ME1, there's only 3 romances - One for Male & Female PC, then there's one that is bisexual.
in ME2 there are a lot more romances (only did 1 playthrough as I bought ME1 after and playing that atm) but it isn't as graphic as ME1 so really it doesn't matter much.
