Nay on Liara being a full time squad mate. Unless all squad mates can't die. Which would be an even worse decision. If only faceless people can die the game will have no important decisions.

- Prologue: Shepard’s escape to the Normandy, off to start finding allies, fighting Reaper troops
- Squadmates include Ashley/Kaiden, Garrus, James Sanders
- Screenshot shown of Ashley with her hair down
- Confirmed appearances (may not be squadmates): Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson
- Game will show a “previously on Mass Effect” comic to make decisions if you’re starting from scartch
- The Illusive Man plays a big role
- Cerberus is out to kill Shepard
- Enhanced RPG elements
- More freedom with character skills
- Larger skill trees
- Powers will evolve several times, not just once
- Weapons are like the ones in Mass Effect 2, have a set list
-Mods returning, swap out different parts such as barrels, scopes (effect both the weapon’s combat performance and its appearance)
- All classes can wield all weapons unhindered now
- There will be limited slots to carry these weapons
- Soldier can carry all weapons at once
- Adept, Engineer, and Sentinal will likely be limited to two weapons, three for Vanguard and Infiltrator
- Numerous endings
- Who you have in your squad and which allies you recruit greatly impact the endings that are available
- No multiplayer
NAY
- Game begins with Shepard on Earth
- Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival
- Reapers invade while the trial is happening
- Squadmates include Liara
Almost everything sounds great to me, except for the idiotic trial on Earth. There is absolutely no logical reason for Shepard to be tried on Earth, which has no authority over Alliance affairs. The only reason to have the trial on Earth is so Shepard can be there when the Reapers invade, which isn't a good enough reason, and it reeks of the writers changing or ignoring established lore just to suit their needs, rather than adapting their ideas to fit the universe they'd already established.
I'm completely okay with Cerberus being out to kill me, because CERBERUS ARE NOT THE GOOD GUYS. They talk a good game, but anyone who really believed they were doing what they do for the greater good (the real greater good, not Cerberus' version of it) was either naive or not quite right in the head. Even if you sided with Cerberus and kept the Collector Base in ME2, I can very easily see them turning against Shepard in ME3 because they no longer have any need for him, and with his growing power and influence, he's becoming a potential threat to Cerberus' security.
Finally, I'm not all that enthusiastic about Liara returning as a squadmate, even though I was expecting it. Ignoring that she's one of the least interesting of all of Shepard's squadmates, after what happened in LotSB, she really shouldn't be gallivanting around the galaxy with Shepard. She's far more useful to Shepard, and the rest of the galaxy, back on Hagalaz, where she can keep an eye on the Shadow Broker's intelligence network and use it to gather information against the Reapers for Shepard and his allies.
That said, what I'm most excited about is the return of some real, genuine RPG elements to the gameplay. I hope BioWare is being serious about this, and aren't just paying lip service. I also really like having weapon mods back, and that they'll affect both the weapons' performance and appearance. And finally, NO MULTIPLAYER. Thank goodness. I don't mind the idea of a Mass Effect game with multiplayer, but it most definitely does not belong in a singleplayer RPG.

Squadmates include Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Garrus, James Sanders (Who?)
Confirmed appearances (may not be squadmates): Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson
Cerberus is out to kill Shepard (Considering I told TIM to **** off at the end of the game I like this.)
- Enhanced RPG elements
- More freedom with character skills
- Larger skill trees
- Powers will evolve several times, not just once
All classes can wield all weapons unhindered now
Numerous endings
- Who you have in your squad and which allies you recruit greatly impact the endings that are available (This I am VERY interested in. Hopefully recruiting one does not lock you out of getting others. I'd also hate to miss out on Liara because of Shadow Broker events)
- No multiplayer (Thank god!)
- The Illusive Man plays a big role (knew we weren't done with him and his shadyness)
- Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival & Reapers invade during Trial (Whoo-hoo! No sentencing for Shepard!)
Also: I can not wait to see the look on the Turian Councilor's face when he hears about the Reapers (although he'll probably assume we're lying) I am not looking forward to the look on his face when he confronts me about the Arrival ending.
I also hope that we defeat the Reapers in several battles, one giant battle at the end (which probably will happen) seems lame to me.
It seems like Arrival happens anyways, even if you didn't play it.

Hackett says at the end of Arrival that Shep has to come "back to Earth to face the music" so this is not surprising. I just wonder, because it sounds like they are, that Bioware is making the events of Arrival happening even if you didn't play it.

That's because it does happen, much like Lair of the Shadowbroker. Bioware is treating dlc much like anyone playing Mass Effect 2 who has not played the original installment. The events still happen; you just did not fully witness them.

Stupid. Freaking. Idiotic. Nitpicks.

I didn't say I was surprised by it, I said it was stupid, because it is. If Shepard has to "face the music," it should be either at Arcturus Station or at the Citadel. Earth has no authority over the Systems Alliance, so Shepard (or Hackett, or Ashley, Kaidan, etc.) doesn't answer to Earth. Setting the trial on Earth is just a case of the writers ignoring the lore THAT THEY ESTABLISHED to fit their story, when it should be the other way around.Asch Lavigne wrote...

Besides, Earth is boring.

Or its just as simple as they want an excuse to put Shep on Earth at the beginning of the game when the invasion happens.

Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival (Arrival was a stupid plotholeish set-up for this trial, when there had already plenty of stuff to try and convict Shepard for. Plus the idea of the trial would have had some meaning of it was that kind of "Previously on Mass Effect / time skip" thing. But with the stupid comic the idea of trial itself is now a totally pointless device.)
Reapers invade while the trial is happening (dull)
My only "nay" votes and pretty much for the same reasons, though I'm not opposed to the comic. I'm hoping ME3 won't feel as railroaded as ME2.
The Reapers came to raise an objection Phoenix Wright style.
On a serious note, I can't wait for Mass Effect 3.

To gauge what we've recently read from GameInformer about ME3 thus far, as fans let's gauge what we think of what we've heard thus far. Here's a fairly good list I found that seperates each factor into individual points:-
Yay:
- Game begins with Shepard on Earth
- Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival Hey at least he doesn't have to spend another two years dead
- Reapers invade while the trial is happening
- Prologue: Shepard’s escape to the Normandy, off to start finding allies, fighting Reaper troops
- Squadmates include Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Garrus, James Sanders I admit I'm suprised at this, but pleased.
- Screenshot shown of Ashley with her hair down Qualified yay, see the Nay section
- Confirmed appearances (may not be squadmates): Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson No suprises here, but Yay!
- The Illusive Man plays a big role Another "Duh!"
- Cerberus is out to kill Shepard Fine by me, I wanna kill them
- Enhanced RPG elements
- More freedom with character skills
- Larger skill trees
- Powers will evolve several times, not just once All these are one long prolonged Yay! I may need a cigartette
- Weapons are like the ones in Mass Effect 2, have a set list
- Mods returning, swap out different parts such as barrels, scopes (effect both the weapon’s combat performance and its appearance) Alpha Protocol! I heartily approve. Especially if the same can be done with armor
- Numerous endings
- Who you have in your squad and which allies you recruit greatly impact the endings that are available
- No multiplayer
Nay:
- Game will show a “previously on Mass Effect” comic to make decisions if you’re starting from scratch Don't approve, really, after seeing the terrible comic made fro ME 2. But at the same time don't care. I'll just import.
- All classes can wield all weapons unhindered now When Bioware's head stops spinning from all the gameplay changes tehy make, I wonder which direction it'll be facing?
- Soldier can carry all weapons at once
-There will be limited slots to carry these weapons And the point to carrying sidearms wil be...?
- Adept, Engineer, and Sentinal will likely be limited to two weapons, three for Vanguard and Infiltrator Okay maybe there's more to it than the article is describing. For now this is all a qualified Nay for me.
One more thing, RE: Ashley with hair down. I like the new look for her hair, but the outfit she's wearing, what we can see of it, looks suspiciously like something Miranda would wear in ME 2.
Maybe that's just some civilian outfit she wears while off-duty, but I really, really hope Ash isn't shopping at the same bullet-proof spandex shop Miranda and Jacob frequent. If that' swhat she wears into combat, however, big-time NAY!

Hey, unlike others, I never said it couldn't happen. I just acknowledged it would be very difficult.
Now let's just hope Ash/Kaidan don't end up being the new Corporal Jenkins...

I admit, this had me laughing out loud for a good minute, given the build up the VS has now had. If this were ever the case Iakus, remind me to send you a full written apology for ever disagreeing with you.

Everything else I'm yay on, too. Except which squadmates you choose having an impact on the ending. Shouldn't it be based upon your actions, not which mates you pick to serve with you? Maybe the info is just a little muddy on that, i will see for myself before posting anything definitive.
Also, I was at first annoyed others could use the assault rifle, but now that I can carry all weapons, I'm ok with it. Hopefully all weapons means all weapons, and I do not have to use a loadout or weapons locker to change sub-type. I don't need a sub-machine gun, though. My assault rifle did most of the damage against the Collectors.
Awesome, BioWare. Thanks for the info on the game. Hope to see it at E3.
