What do you guys think of Walking Bomb and its upgrades? I see conflicting things about it (I've see conflicting things about almost every goddamn mage ability, though), but I'm thinking it would be good for those Qunari I won't be able to nuke, due to their fire/electricity resistance. It was also one of my favorite ways to kill things in Origins, so I'll probably give it a shot at some point on that merit alone, I just wanted to hear some opinions.
Walking Bomb could be useful with an all range party, but, frankly, it is mostly situational since the AoE is only 4 meters so enemies have to be sticked pretty close togheter for it to function. More, Virulent doesn't work as it did in DAO, where the area was tied to the last enemy effected (similarly on how Chain Lighttning works), and instead it is calculated only from the place the first enemy explodes. So, enemies must be all togheter, in a close group, or the more "external" will never be affected.
To do so usually requires at last a combo of another 1-2 spells (for example Pull + CoC/Winter Blast + WB). There are some encounters, however, where it really, really shines (for example in the Dissent quest).
So it depends on if you have points to spare or not. I usually prefer to nuke (as you do yourself in the video) than rely on WB, since many times to use it in a meaningful way it requires comboing the same with other spells, but in that same lapse of time you could do much better/more damage with other things. However I know that WB can be used to devastating effects if you set the context in the right way. It is only that I'm a bit "lazy" and I simply prefer to damage things immediately instead of setting, waiting then fire. It depends mostly on your playstile and what you are better at.
