I can't believe I just said that.
I lol'd. Hard.
I'm kind of angry that you don't get Sebastian til Act II, but whatever. Hopefully by the time I get there, the patch will be out, and I don't have to worry about ANOTHER stupid game-breaking bug.
I also have new-found respect for Fenris, as he is much less of a whiny rejected Twilight character when Varric is in the party.

To avoid the bug, can't you go the rivalry path instead? (It is a friendship bug right?)
I think your respect should then belong to Varric in this case. If you like MerrillI also have new-found respect for Fenris, as he is much less of a whiny rejected Twilight character when Varric is in the party.

Same here, and most of my unfinished characters are Mages. Not because I dislike the class, but because I can't get past level 5 with so much of Carver around.

This is not to challenge you at all, only for what will happen to Carver without Anders present.

But I LIKE Carver! I don't want bad things happening to him!

Let's see... How about Isabella and Merill? It would be like a variation of your team glass cannon. Healing will be a problem unless you do it yourself, though.

Though, the ARW was a rather harrowing experience.

Already at the Deep Roads? So who did you bring? How did it go?
Went Carver/Anders/Varric.
Carver has died from FF a solid 3 or 4 times, due to him being, well, Carver, and ignoring my commands, but other than that, it's been going swimmingly. Dragon dropped in about a minute and a half, thanks to some Force Mage shenanigans and crit gear. I'll be posting a video in the next half hour or so.

I took the same squad into the Deep Roads for storyline reasons. I found that my Elemental Mage killed the ARW much faster than my Primal Mage (ARW seems quite weak to Fire as well as Cold), but with more frustration. Not as enjoyable as against any other enemy.AreleX wrote...

I never know how you could do some things, like make your squadmates avoid Red Glow of Death on auto, or do excessive fist pumps with your Warrior/excessive staff twirls with your Mage- perhaps it works only on Xbox?. I kept spamming the 'attack closes target' key on PC but to no avail. No excessive staff twirls. Why can't I be as awesome as you? Sigh.

This is a question many cry themselves to sleep at night asking, friend. Just try not to think about it, and take solace in the fact that you can watch me excessively twirl my staff (tee hee) and fist-pump.
(Also that for every rather useless thing I can do on console, there's 20 million you can do that I can't on PC)

That is pretty cool, but I'd like to see more against some other enemies. Those fake guards seem to be extremely vulnerable to fire damage. Even with a much more standard build, my mage was doing 100-200 damage on auto attack to them with the Staff of Parthalan and +fire damage gear.
I'd like to see that too. Those fake guards are extremely vulnerable to fire damage, so its hard to get a fair assessment from that. My mage was doing similar damage there, and that was before i started to really take advantage of fire damage bonuses.
