When thinking about squadmates in upcoming ME3 i started imagining what would happen to thouse of crew members that wont return as fully playable characters.
As most of people on this sorum I expect that at least some of Mass Effect 2 squadies would have to leave in order to maintain the overal number lets say bellow 15 (most probable is still 12 selectable all round squadies).
The most obwious to leave ale DLC characters - Kasumi and ZAEED.

As unhappy as we might be about lack all this amazing stories of his, it is only natural that he would leave Normandy after Destroying the Collectors Base. He is a mercenary to the very bone, he've been paid for the job now he is back to his bussiness, eighter chasing down Vido or picking up another assighment, lending his rifle to whomever pays the most. And it is here when my speculation begins.
Where and when could we possibly encouter Zaeed in ME3. Bioware's work are exelent about making a lot of references and come backs or cameo's in their games, and Zaeed is character great enought  to deserve at least minor cameo in ME3.
Ocasion to see him back in ME3 are numerous, he might as well still be squadmate (althought this is less that unlikely), you all -probaly have your own ideas about what his cameo will be all about (fill free to post your ideas in replies). Mine is here:

So ... i expect to find Zaeed working for Ilussive Man as his personal bodyguard on the mission we will try to take him down (TIM)...
For what we know, and what we all could start to phatom from ME2, somewhere during ME3 we will face and  confront the Ilusive Man himself. I am speculating that this encouter wouldt be something like boss fight of mayor main story mission somewhere in 3/4 of the Game.
Zaeed woudl be his personal Bodyguard (among others perhaps) Then the dramatic scene occures and when we reach  TIMs quarthers he willl try to swade us away from proceding any further. Despite all respect  he have to Shepherd, and beeing reluctant to shed bloodof his former colleague, he simply wont back down. This is all about his mercenary reputation and honour, never to brake agreement no mater the ods or consequences.
Depending on Shepherds choice he can eighter convince him that he just whant to talk things down with TIM (Paragon Persuasion), Kill Zaeed as he hesitates to open fire on Shepherd in renegade interupt, Talk Zaeed down to screw TIM and break his rulles turning on his employer (Renegade Persuasion), or if you dont have enought paragon\\renegade points - you will have to Kill Zaeed in order to get to TIM (all 3 "normal" dialog options - eighter angry - Renegade; sorry - neutral; honored and pround - Paragon )

I am all anxious to see yuor feedback.

TIM already has an elite, badass bodyguard named Kai Leng. I'm hoping we get to fight him in ME3. I hightly doubt we'll see Zaeed or Kasumi in ME3 unless it's as a brief cameo or they are referenced to by someone else.

I don't think so. If Shepard has really earned Zaeed's loyalty, then an attempt by TIM to turn him against Shepard will ring hollow. Not always, but trust holds a lot more weight than just doing business.

Zaeed would turn on Shep if paid enough.

I have a sneaky suspicion Zaeed Messani will crop up either in a cameo role or in background dialogue somewhere (like Shale in DA2). His character was too memorable to not at least mention in ME3.

Maybe he'll reclaim the Blue Suns or something.

I do find myself hoping that the ME team borrow the epilogue slides the DA team came up with for Origins. It just seems to me that it would be a great way of summarising the impact our Shepard's will have had on the people of the Galaxy over the course of three games filled with choices.

Theres a few ways I see Zaeed's loyalty playing out.

1) He's dead, either from burning to death in the Paragon story or Sucide Mission.
2) He's unloyal and went off to kill Vido and reclaim the Blue Suns without a second thought about Shepard.
3) He kills Vido (renegade ending) and reclaims the Blue Suns, adding their power to Shepard's armies.
4) Zaeed is loyal and understands what it means to be on a team, so he stays with Shepard as a squadmate until the end.

I think its pretty balanced for either renegade and paragon. Paragons may get another squad mate but Renegades benefit in the meta game by having another army to help fight the Reapers.

i thought about this one too. As it is near confirmed that ME3 willl be about assembling Army across whole galxy to face the Reapers (+ maybe search of some legendary prothean or not  super antiReaper weapon), i thought that Zaeed could be one person leading Mercenaries in this assault (as Mercs are definatly force to recon with in ME universe).

This can be Aria thought, or even lets say Jack, when unleashed she build her own private Crime syndicate :)
Hell even Liara as Shadowbroker could rally around her Army of Mercs.

No thanks, I really did not like Zaaed, I would rather have Kasumi return and be developed a lot more as a character than Zaaed...But I don't think either of them really has the potential to be a supporting character to Shepard.

That would be brilliant actually, I hadn't considered mercs playing a role in the army Shep will assemble but it makes perfect sense.

It could be similar to Wrex in ME2, some other merc leader is in charge if Zaeed died in your import. To be honest any excuse they can find to bring back dat voice (and rage) meets with my approval.
