It feels almost like BW would try to have "the-same-squad-experince-that-you-had-in-ME1". I mean Ash/Kaidan, Garrus and Liara on the same ship again? I can see the dialog between them:

"Just like old times"

(If they add Tali, then say hello to ME1)

I don't know whether it's a good thing or a bad...

Why would it be bad? It may be only temorary, and I think this is a good idea. If Jacob and Miranda stays on the Normandy, the conversations could get really interesting

And even though Liara is quite popular, hell she's my favourite character, her being a full time squad mistake is a bad move and blatant fan service. She's the Shadow Broker she should not be risking her life running around with Shepard. She should be using her information to help and not her biotics.

This presumes that BW's story line for ME3 doesn't force her into accompanying Shep.

If BioWare is forcing her into accompanying Shepard.  Then that means that the possibility of a squad mate dying, is completely out the window.

So now Shepard is going to stop an invasion of machines that have never failed at wiping out all life without losing anyone.

That goes above and beyond being a hero to being some kind of god.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"Not on squad" =/= "one-minute cameo." Take a chill pill, brah. I will, however, admit that the Liara thing is dumb, but who knows? She might just be temping.

Frankly, I'm more pissed about Ashley's new character design; she looks too much like Miranda. I miss the bun. And the armor. And the pink. (And yeah, I know, just concept art, subject to change, blah blah blah.)

Where did you see Ashley's new character design?

From Gameinformer.

But she only got longer hair and we only saw her with casual clothes.
She can still wear that pink armor.

I don't see the connection b/w forcing Liara to take her SB duties on the road (only one of an infinite number of possibilities) equates to squaddies not being able to die.

The beginning of the end. It has begun.

No but really now, I understand we're all diehard BioWare fans but is the raging and anger already flaming up? So far I've read how people hate Ashley's nose and long hair. Now its the whole WHY ISN'T X IN ME3. Please, give it a while. You cannot expect every single squaddie from ME2 to appear in your team but perhaps BioWare have something planned for these other characters?

We'll get an explanation eventually but to rage an- *clears throat* 'speculate' at this moment is a bit.. early imo. Then again my opinion hasn't mattered much to anyone lol, whatever.

Liara may only be recruitable if she isn't the SB in your game. (I hope not, I want her)

Keep in mind that ME3 will primarily involve the galactic civilizations. Squadmates will be a secondary, not a primary, concern this time apparently (unless the squadmate stories are tied directly to their respective civilization like Garrus and the turians) since all the squadmates have had their stories fleshed out in ME2.

There are a lot of assumptions being made, considering the OP will not even wait to see how the ME3 story plays out.

I'm find Liara, Legion and Mordin info from this magazines problematic, considering that Liara is SB so it doesn't make sense to be squadmate entire ME3 and for both Legion and Mordin to leave since Garrus is confirmed to be squadmate even though he can die.

Of course it doesn't make sense right now - you don't know the story.

If you told the people who just watched Star Wars in '77 that Darth Vader was Luke's father... well... they'd look at you cross-eyed.  Because at that point they don't know the whole story.

I advise patience, my fellow ME fan.

I've said this as a possible reason before, perhaps the Reapers somehow found out that Liara is the new Shadowbroker, working with Shepard and where her base of operations is located. As a result the Reapers have launched an attack on her and one of your first order of business is to go there and rescue her.

She then transfers her base of operations onboard the Normandy and travel with you.

Good theory...

Although, I don't mind speculation about how the new info we have will play out.  I only find when people start screaming "plot hole / problem / that doesn't make sense" (pick your poison) when the game hasn't even been released yet.

2. I can think of several different scenarios where Liara's coming onto the team can make sense. Suppose her intel network is destroyed by the Reapers?

Yes, let's build up the Liara-and-the-Shadow-Broker sideplot into the most awesome DLC in the series just so we can handwave it into oblivion at the start of the sequel!

...No.

Just, no.

THIS!!!

That is exactly the reason why Liara's return as a squadmate makes no sense to me.  It's been said that we should consider the event of LotSB to have occurred whether we bought and played the DLC or not.  Let's assume that is FACT.  This is a MAJOR, MAJOR thing for Liara and the culmination of 2 years' worth of planning.  It's literally a game-changing scenario for the character, and it's going to be utterly dismissed just so Shepard can "get the band back together"?  Okay, even if it's not completely dismissed out of hand, it'll still seem like a cheap cop-out if they have the Reapers destroy the Shadow Broker's vessel or bring down the information network in some other way.  Anything like that happening will just make the significance of LotSB essentially nonexistent.

Read this:

A few old friends will be returning as squad mates, including Liara, Ashley/Kaiden and, if he’s alive, Garrus.

Providing they survived the previous games, Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson will be in Mass Effect 3, though not as members of your team.

So somebody explain why on Earth is Liara, the Shadow Broker, went to run around with Shepard to shoot stuff?!

THAT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!

She is a goddamn Shadow Broker and her role as SB is more important then ever and NOW she decides to join you?! Not when she wasn't even close to take down SB?

What was the point of LotSB is she just abandoned SB role?

Oh and LotSB happens in ME3 even if you didn't play DLC since it's a bridge DLC.

Also what kills me the most that Mordin and Legion are kicked off.
WHY?!

Now I can kinda get Mordin that he might be too old for combat and he just research stuff on Normandy for you but Legion?! Why on Earth would Legion leave?!
That makes even less sense!

That really pissed me off since not only that Legion is my most favorite character but we barley had anything with him/them since he's/they're one of the last squadmates to pick up AND if you want to get the best ending he has/they have to be recruited after you do at least 8/10 LM( 10/12 with Kasumi and Zaeed)!

Bioware you got to have very good explanation for this or confirm that those magazines were misinformed about Liara, Legion and possibly with Mordin.

In the article they only said that Legion,Mordin and the rest weren't playable as squadmates at the start.Which doesn'tmean they won't be playable throughthe whole game.Think about it.Maybe they were cut off from Shepard when the Reapers invaded.Only time will tell whether they will be playeble or not.

I respectfully disagree with that.

Without a logical, cohesive story to back it all up, the Mass Effect games are just glorified 3rd-person shooters.  BioWare's writers created an amazing "universe", as it were, that has captivated ME1 and ME2's players, SO MUCH SO that when there's a plot point that is glaringly out of place or completely illogical, they're quick to draw attention to it.

Liara is an important character in the ME 'verse, and she becomes even moreso after LotSB.  She basically becomes the most powerful person in the galaxy (other than Shepard, of course).  So now the possibility exists that she'd leave that behind to stand beside Shepard in the final battle?  Doesn't that seem like the least intelligent thing to do, considering her new position?  Her position as the Shadow Broker is far more valuable, as she can ensure that the avenues of information traffic remain open even as the galaxy breaks out into total warfare.  Handing that to anyone else or outright abandoning it makes all her work to get to where she ends up at LotSB's coda completely pointless.

Indeed. The article also only said that Ash/Kaidan, Garrus, and Liara would be playable at SOME POINT. That could mean that they're using the whole "temp squaddie" system more robustly in this game, which I honestly think would be really cool.

Not saying I don't want a lot of people back full time, but we have so little information now, it's important not to get things distorted.

Has it occurred to you that maybe Liara won't join our squad until later in the game? Maybe something happens to her base, maybe she decides to leave temporarily to try and help Shepard. You're already jumping to conclusions the first time you hear about this... Just calm down for once...

I so agree with you. There are so many haters on these forums I'm actually wondering if those people are even able to play a game and enjoy it. It's like they're constantly looking for things to nag about. We need a big cleanup about now, perhaps the reapers can start destroying all haters first, before the other humans on earth.

I agree, this sounds cool. As long as BioWare isn't going to kill off certain squadmembers during the quest (If Liara is killed it's game over for me. dvd is snapped in half. Time for next game)

There is no room for calm and please stop this wild speculation of yours that there will be a reason for Liara to be a squadmate. lol

Hey, if I get the entire original crew, including Tali, I've got no complaints.

Considering Legion and Mordin got the boot(two super-popular characters) I'm not gettin my hopes up on Tali tbh.
