Once again, Mordin and Legion have neither been confirmed no denied as squaddies. All we know is that they made appearances, but were not squaddies in the time Game Informer was given to play the game. Keep in mind, we didn't get Tali right away in ME2 either, she was in the second third of the game.

I'm sick to death of this over saturation of Liara content.
My Shepard doesn't even like her.

I must admit I jumped to my conclusion but this info worried me a lot.

I don't see the problem here. Liara is installed as the Shadow Broker, but she may very well be compromised. Cerberus must know of the SB's location now and will ofcourse try to usurp this position for the bettering of humanity - possibly an explanation why Cerberus and Shep aren't on good terms - (Aelia covered this already).

We don't know what happens in ME3, but I think Liara will not be at Sheperds trial. It's far more efficient for her to just forward information to the lawyer/representative. Still, I hope she will be a perma squaddie after you save her butt.

I'm guessing Liara is a temp companion for the opening because she is there for the trial. Then when you get back to The Normandy, you take her back to her secret base straight away and she acts as your main source of intel.

Didn't you hear?

Garrus will be the sole representative for the ME2 Squaddies! Apparantly he can't move on without Shepard while the others have various reasons to let the Universe burn than join Shepard again.

Though take heart.

I'm sure the Cameo's will be nice.

Trolling? Please. Though I do hope you enjoy those cameo's while Garrus Fans get to enjoy their ME2 Sole Returning Killable Squaddie Cake while the rest of you can only watch. For you see there is no more room left on the table, no?

Can't hear you over the sound of Garrus's variables. There were soo many of them. Romanced or not romanced! And also, the notes from LotSB that said he would start his own squad! So many variables.

Also, everyone knows that this is all an elaborate trick. The real team for ME3 is in my sig - Whole Team is Jacob.

Yes, there were many variables and those that lost Garrus will get screwed. However if you lost any of the 'other' killables you will only miss out on cameo's it seems. Funny how that works fight? One Fanbase gets their cake and the rest are reduced to cameo's? Personally I find it hilarious that Bioware is completely okay with screwing over the majority of its fanbase because they couldn't write a believable story as to why Garrus would leave to.

I have no reason to deny you this delicious cake since even if you weren't a Garrus Fan you could lie about it on the forums and I couldn't prove such a claim false.

Reapers allowing a galactic information broker to operate is stupid. They would try to eliminate her at the first hurdle. If the writers ignore this and have her passing on intel for most of the game it would be stupid.

And unfortunately for most others, just like Liara and the VS were in ME2, they have their own issues to deal with to keep them away from the mission.

Personally though, the simple fact is peoples fantasies of Liara sitting out the game on the sidelines passing along info to Shepard and playing the Shadow Broker are not sensible. With how the reapers operate, they would not allow it, and try and put an end to her operation asap.

Plus it would also be stupid not to have her and the VS as the earliest permanent squadmates, since outside of new characters, they are the only two who are fit to be squadmates that are for certain left alive.

Read this:

A few old friends will be returning as squad mates, including Liara, Ashley/Kaiden and, if he’s alive, Garrus.

Providing they survived the previous games, Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson will be in Mass Effect 3, though not as members of your team.

So somebody explain why on Earth is Liara, the Shadow Broker, went to run around with Shepard to shoot stuff?!

Wrex cannot be in the squad because he needs to lead the Krogans! Without Wrex there... the Krogan will probably nuke themselves back into the stone ages before getting off Tuchanka.. not much help there..

Legion... well maybe he has to return to the Geth to join the Geth - to share the experience with the Geth and continue his work there. The robot Legion is only a platform identified by a few hundred programs... so...

As for Liara - well being the SB means being her own boss and if she want to come sleep... I mean help Shepard, why not

Liara doesn't have to be sitting on her blue butt all the time while the Reapers start attacking. I'm sure she'd want to do something to help stop them and I'm guessing she will be using her Shadow Broker resources on the.. Normandy? Possibly, who knows. Can't blame her though.

Why do people keep quoting the inaccurate stuff? I'm making a copypasta, for the next time this happens. I've seen the text in question. Unless I missed other text that contradicts it, this is what we know:

Liara, Kaidan/Ash, Garrus are playable at some point, at least. Temp or perm, unspecified.

Wrex, Mordin, and Legion definitely appear,  it is unknown whether or not they are playable.

No further specifics! No one is ruled out! Now, if you want to assume all the revealed squaddies are permanent, I think you're probably correct. But it is not guaranteed!

I would be against Wrex to be squadmate aswell so no point to argue here.

For Legion. He just sends the damn reports with FTL communications. No need to physically leave to tell them what happen there.

Liara as SB has huge responsibility otherwise there's no point of LotSB plot.

They wouldn't allow her, but they don't know where is she.
How can they attack her without knowing where does she operate.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure VS will stay to help you take back the Earth.

In that case LotSB plot is pointless.

I am under the impression that while Legion can "report" back, he cannot "share" his experiences with the hive. From what I understand the geth are godzillion tiny programs and when they are isolated in platforms, they no longer "see" as well as when they are all in the "main database servers".

As for Liara, once the Reapers started their invasion, the only information that is useful would be their coordinate, she does really need to sit in the base just to do that. As Kronnor pointed out, she is one of the most powerful biotic in the galaxy and also she is a brilliant scientist, her knowledge would be of great help.

Yeah, instead of being on very hidden ship that is solely build for communication, let put her on warship that may lose communications sometimes.

She can leave someone to mind the station while she's gone. She's already got that Drell chew-toy. Honestly, I thought it would be cool if Liara turned the SB into what people always thought he was - a team of several people all working together.
