lol @ you if you think that her being a squadmate means she can't be the Shadowbroker anymore.

False dichotomy ftl.

I think it depends on whether they want Liara or any Shadow Broker around during possible future non Shepard related games. If so, she should probably spend more time as the broker.

If however they just want the Broker gone for good, then this is the chance to get all the usefulness of the Broker for Shep's quest done with before destroying the base and getting rid of the Broker permantently. Assuming they plan on changing the galaxy's status quo at the end of ME3, they may opt to do this.

I've said this as a possible reason before, perhaps the Reapers somehow found out that Liara is the new Shadowbroker, working with Shepard and where her base of operations is located. As a result the Reapers have launched an attack on her and one of your first order of business is to go there and rescue her.

She then transfers her base of operations onboard the Normandy and travel with you.

This. And as far as legion goes op he was a messenger for the geth he was made to find you then they decided to cooperate with you once they found you now that the SM is over they need him back easy.

Also bear in mind that, while Legion is confirmed to appear, it has not been confirmed whether or not he is a squadmate. So he could still be hanging out, we don't know yet.

Whatever the excuse for Liara joining your crew, it is stupid. They spent too much time and effort setting her up as the Shadow Broker to then change their minds.

In case nobody has thrown it out there, the article states "playable in some form"; Liara may be nothing more than a temporary squadmate in ME3.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that this is the case, and what it'll be is that she becomes a squaddie because she's there with Shepard at the trial and then once you make it to The Normandy you go back to her base and she resumes her duties there.

...if they're in there as more than a cameo I will be thrilled...

...if they just get a "Oh, Hi Shep!" then I will crack the sads.

I don't see why people are declaring something a plot hole when they dun even know how the story is going to fold out yet. But my guess as to how Liara comes to be a squad member is that prolly during the time between ME2 and ME3, she'll be is most likely getting all the Shadow Broker's clients preparing for the Reaper invasion. Thus when the story unfolds in ME3, Liara can be in your squad as she has done everything she can do as the Shadow Broker. Plus why would anyone who is not part of the plan work for the Shadow Broker anymore? I'll rather run then follow some order from a person I never even met before if the Reapers are destroying the galaxy...
