The power value is normally 1 unless you are dealing with rune slots, in which case the power value is the number of rune slots.
I don't know if anyone has posted any other detailed info about item data, I just know of the details I have commented about, occasionally.

Okay, thank you. I was entering multiple lines for multiple runeslots, which didn't seem to be working that well, lol.

What I'm trying to figure out is for skills such as evade traps would the power value signify... the radius of your ability to detect traps? For disarm traps or open locks, would it signify the level of trap/lock you could open?

Sometimes, with things like "increased damage to xxx race" you can kinda see the value reflected in game, in either the +dmg amount of +% amount, but for other things, it doesn't give an amount of the increase, so I'm not sure whether changing it beyond 1 is even doing anything, or what 1 means, which makes it hard to determine whether I'm making something overpowered while still giving it the trait I want.

What I have been able to tell, the enhancers like trap evasion, lock picking, drops better loot, drops more coin, etc, do not stack. I didn't see any difference if I had on 1 or 4 items with the same enhancement. It also does not matter if you put a power of 1 or 10, there does not seem to be any difference. There's no way for me to see the scripts that run those enhancements so I don;t know for sure, but thats what I noted in all my testing and a couple runs through the game..

Okay, excellent, thank you. Good to know.

For instance, when adding a property such as "bonus to evade traps" or "damage to XXX species" or whatever, how do we choose how powerful to make it, and what sort of value would that be?

I'm assuming this is already known, but many properties can be scaled up and down from a value of 1, but others (e.g. base DPS for an evolving staff) seem to be fixed as far as I can tell. Probably a moot point for evolving items, but useful for fine-tuning other things.

Yes, the evolution system overrides just about everything. I actually think it was one of the best systems they could have put in DA2. It's a shame they didn't utilize its potential to make really balanced play through out the entire game.

Could you please try to do the Vigilance greatsword? Considering the swords history I would appreciate it if you made it powerful.

When you do place them in a vendor shop's inventory, which vendor do you plan on placing them in?

Nah, I was busy and was away from the site. my new project is about 98% done, has 120ish custom items. I need to write up all the documentation on it, which I am not looking forward to.

I've found that writing documentation is oddly relaxing. What's not is updating every instance of it when I put out a new release. Speaking of which... *goes back to working on Varric*

Hi again Sunnie,
Quick question - Can you access the new DLC items to edit? Or are they hidden away sneakily / encrypted? Reason I ask is because i've fallen in love with the new 2h sword (The higher level one) and would love to make it a 1 hander :P

Ya, they are in encrypted ERFs also.. this is going to be how they release these paid DLC things. They aren't getting another penny from me though, not until they update the toolset. Skyrim is coming later this year and the toolset will be released with the game. Bethsoft loves their modder community, unlike BW/EA.

Sorry to rez this thread, but, I would love the evolving property added to all the companion weapons (starting weps and gifts/upgrades), but with no other modifications. I am fumbling around trying to do it myself, but I'm not sure which numbers correspond to which item property.

The "evolving" property is 9115. Just add a new property with that and a power of 1 and you're good.

Trap Evasion adds a moderate chance (or maybe even a 100% chance) of escaping from a trap via backflipping (at least as a rogue you backflip), such as to avoid prolonged exposure to the traps.
Lockpicking and Detection work simply by adding one level to the trapping skill (meaning, you can detect/pick complex traps when you used to only detect standard traps). That's what I think it does.
The Drop more coin attribute does stack, and by default adds 5% extra coin, modified by where the rune is placed.
