Well done for now keeping us up to date and I agree that I would rather have a fix that works rather than a quick one which might cause more problems.

Especially the missing chantry board quests,
the oddities around Sketch's quest as well as
the misfiring 'who needs rescue' are quite
bothering - good to hear about the fixes.

Now, has Anders inaccessible rivalry ending bug been fixed? I have one of my playthrough on hold just for this.

RPG's alone are hard to get right on day 1. You have all this code and whenever serious changes are made you risk breaking something in the end that is not seen by QA until the said games initial release.

Does the fix mentioned here help? -> http://social.biowar...7003326#7003541RisingDragon wrote...
how do the victims of the "sequel-celebration-bug" [means since ia and other players of DAII downloaded ME2, a Semikolon (the german word, dont know the english one) is missing and updatet news like a new patch, new dlcs, etc.] get to know if its done?

I could be wrong, but the wording is pretty clear, and if they were working on a retroactive fix they would say so. Additionally the question of whether the patch is retroactive or not has been asked many times in several threads, and not yet been officially answered...

Thanks for this, I hope Anders's rivalry path bugs are fixed as well.
Me too!
Thanks for the update on some of the patch contents.

I'm going to take a stab here and say that the patch will not be retroactive in fixing character slow down. The wording from the devs says that the stats will be applied properly when re-loading and saving. There's no mention about fixing existing broken saves. Sorry boys and girls, if you have a broken save and don't want to edit your savegame file, you'll need to start again!

Given the update isn't particularly specific about what's in the fix, I wouldn't start a riot quite yet. These aren't the actual release notes, so no sense in lambasting the devs about what you think might be missing.

I don't think it would be possible to fix the slowdown bug through a patch becausse of how the bug works. It applies a permanent -5 to the attribute and stacks it. After that, the game has no reason to keep track of the original value (which is the source of the bug). There would be no way for the patch to look at the saved data and figure out what the "correct" value is supposed to be (unless save games keep a ridiculous amount of history for the character; such a history would be terribly inefficient and unnecessary in theory).

Interesting.
BW/EA must have some legal agreement with SOE and MS that if they patch one system, all must be patched. I dunno why they would enter into any such agreement, nor have I ever heard of MS or SOE demanding that a gaming company can't patch the PC and not the consoles, etc. This is just plain weird.

1) A patch WILL fix the bug, but not the save game data (you are correct)
2) A patch will NOT fix this bug with *existing* playthroughs, but it will prevent it from getting worse
3) Once 1.02 is out, to 100% solve the issue you must:
a) patch to 1.02
If you don't do step 3, the only way to get away from this 100% is to start a new game, or you can choose to keep playing, but it wont' get any worse.

You can do this even w/o 1.02. This will solve your bug. After you fix it, keep isa and seb out of your party... or if you must have them.. here is a trick.. set both BASE values to 50! LOL that'd be attack 50% faster and 50% dmg resistance. It will then take this bug quite a while to get you down to 0 and into the negative numbers
social.bioware.com/project/1936/#files has v0.5.5 of the gff4 editor that will work with DA2
gff4editor-0.5.5b.7z
is the file you want, and you use the editor.exe program to open and edit DA2 save files

So it looks like the consoles ARE delaying the PC patch.

I can 100% say that the console patches have no effect on when the PC patch is being released. If it was delayed, it would have been for a different reason.

final certification process with EA, Microsoft, and Sony but is not
expected to come out this weekend. Thank you for your continued patience
and we look forward to getting this in your hands soon."
cool thanks Luke. I didn't think there was a legal issue, but the way the OP was worded looked like they were all tied together for some reason and it was "cookie cutter" pasted to all 3 platform form areas.
So by your reply, I'm guessing it's more like this:
The PC/MAC patch is with EA
The Ps3 is with SOE
The xbox360 is with MS
... and that each will be released, in turn, as they pass certification by each company?
