Well I'm happy about the patch, but it looks like those of us who have been affected by the slow animation bug have to wait even longer to be able to play our affected characters. Looks like I'll just have to have to start my warrior over.

UPDATE: Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

Good news - Microsoft has completed their certification process. Title Update 1.01 is scheduled to go live on X360 sometime tomorrow.

In the meantime, I thought I’d take the opportunity to provide a deeper dive on what a couple of the patch notes actually mean.

“- The effects of various follower talents and item properties are now being properly removed and re-applied when loading and saving.”

Yeah, this one covers a lot of ground and had a wide range of symptoms. Some were quite subtle, others… not so much. In general, this covers a wide range of cases where the player’s stats were getting incremented or decremented more than they should. In some cases, such as Hawke’s combat speed, this would continue compounding every time you loaded a certain type of save. This bug, and the corresponding fix, are expected to behave the same on consoles as they do on PC/Mac. It’s important to note that this first patch focuses on preventing the issue from recurring or getting worse. For the next patch, we’re looking deeper into how to fully reverse the issue and restore normalcy in save games where the error has already occurred.

“- Various technical changes should improve performance, limit crashes, and address memory-related issues.”

On the X360 in particular, some players were experiencing issues such as missing textures or “unable to load area” messages, especially if they’d been playing the game for a long time in one sitting. Similar issues were occurring on the other platforms but with less frequency. Memory and performance issues are complex beasts, of course, and we don’t want to say that we’ve eliminated these issues altogether but the patch does provide a lot of improvements and optimizations that will improve players' experience in that regard and make those issues significantly less prevalent than they are currently.

We look forward to getting Title Update 1.01 into your hands tomorrow.

you guys rock! Thanks so so so much!:)

Next time you release a game in this condition, would you mind having the word "Beta" printed clearly on the box?

Priceless!

Apparently there's a fix for existing saves in the works.

Luke Barrett wrote...

Now, I'm being told that a retro-active fix is in the testing process as of today but as I'm sure you're all painfully aware this process is rather lengthy. Assuming it goes over properly it will be included in the next patch but this won't be for about a month (approximately how long it took from launch until today). These dates and fixes are all subject to change so don't expect them to be exact.

Pardon my language, but F U C K that. This stuff should have been done before the game was released. I don't even care about the import bugs anymore. Once the 1.01 patch comes out, I'm going to finish my current playthrough which was last saved right before I befriend Isabela, then playthrough the game again without having to stop in the middle. If Zevran says the wrong thing or if Nathaniel doesn't show up, whatever. I don't care anymore. I just want to enjoy the game and I'm not going to wait another month for the flags to be fixed just so I can hear one different sentence from a character. I can just use youtube for that.

It's painful to see these things occur in a game by Bioware. They are my favorite and I love all of their games. How did they mess this up so badly? The bugs are just insane. Honestly, these bugs would be the equivilant to releasing a Call of Duty game where you couldn't aim down the sights until a patch was released a month later.

The friendship buff bug is bad, but I can understand them missing it. The import flags however, I cannot understand how the hell they missed those. Didn't they try importing an Awakening or Witch Hunt save themselves and realize that stuff wasn't correct? How can you miss an issue that big!?

*Sigh*. End Rant. <_<

Wait, when does Nathaniel show up?  I never saw him in my 360 playthrough importing my Origins/Awakening/Witch Hunt save.  Is there a certain condition in the  Awakening save for him to show up?

I was extremely disappointed in the whole importing a save from Origins thing.  I had to use the standard Human noble story for my PS3 playthroughs and I saw no difference at all when I imported my full Origins save on the 360.  Also, the meeting with King Alistair (ALISTAIR!!) was bit silly with Anders in the party.  They MET at the begining of Awakening!  Of COURSE they each know the other was a grey warden!  Also, why did Anders never speak of his time with my Warden?  That annoyed me.

*SPOILERS ARE IN THE FOLLOWING RANT*

Well I'm trying not to read too much about what happens in Act 3 because I don't want to spoil myself, but unfortunately due to bugs I need to read up on what's going to happen so I can prevent any of those said bugs from happening to me. Isn't that BS?

I'm not 100% positive on this because I'm still on Act 2, but from the little I've read on DA Wiki, if Nathaniel survived Awakening (you took him to the mother fight) and you transfered your save to DAII he should show up in act 3 in some side quest. Apparantly if he didn't survive Awakening and you transferred, you'll get the quest called "Fools gold" in Act 2 instead, and Nathaniel will never show up or even be mentioned.

However, this is all bugged, and sometimes even if he survived he wont show up, or if he died he'll show up, etc. His dialogue is also bugged. If you killed the Architect in Awakening, sometimes he'll say that you didn't, or if you didn't kill him, he'll say that you did kill him. These bugs also exist for Zevran when he shows up in Act 3. However, sometimes Zevran doesn't even show up because that is ALSO freakin' bugged. Same goes for the Leliana and Alistair encounters...

Yeah....so basically none of the import stuff works the way it should. How can you **** up something like this so badly? ME2's transfer was fine and the only noteworthy bug was Conrad Verner, but that was just one in the entire game. In DAII, pretty much ALL the transferred stuff is bugged. One of the biggest selling points of DAII was the fact that you can transfer your Origins world over to this game. So why advertise something like this when it doesn't even work!?!?!?!

I was in the same boat, however, if you've already tried Firstblight to edit - try Mark B's guide step-by-step on this page http://social.biowar...index/6749366/7 to correct your speed values

See also the OP for links to the programs and which values to edit.
After tinkering for a while, I can confirm that, if you're having issues with savegame corruption when using Firstblight v1.31 to edit values, then using gffeditor instead does appear to work without corruption - ofcourse Firstblight is much more userfriendly than gff, so give it a try.
This has the advantage that, if the patch arrives tomorrow you can edit just one save before you patch it, with the knowledge that the bug won't keep worsening, and you theoretically shouldn't have to fix your values ever again.

I got a lot of help from the guys on the thread I linked, and I'm happy to return the favour if anyone needs it.

Just as i start another ME2 playthrough...typical. Anyway thanks guys great work. Haven't seen anything about the maker's sigh potions. Do these work properly now? In particular the problem with passive skills.

According to Luke Barrett, all Maker's Sigh issues are corrected, unless you were already gimped by one.

I hope not! I need to be here when it launches to deal with all the fallout :police:

On that note though, I'll make a copy of all the known issues from the PC section and paste that over here some time late tonight (minus the PC stuff, of course)

Content updates do, but I'm not sure that Title Updates have a specific time. So nobody panic if it doesn't show up at 4cst.

Know what really speeds things up? Sleeping during 4 AM. XD

Do people really wake up at 4 and play video games?
