I didn't mean to imply that all Bioware employees were acting unprofessionally, seeing as how Luke here is posting informatively and with good humor.
And I was impressed with Gaider's response to the absurd concept of "letting down the straight male gamer".
But blaming poor reception on a supposed 4chan campaign against the game, rather than being open to discussion and honesty regarding the game's faults that exist regardless of who points them out struck me as a bit silly. It came off as "there is literally nothing wrong with our game, and any complaints about it are completely invalid because, well, 4chan!"
Then the whole banning of somebody from using the games they payed for simply because of a remark during a developer chat. The remark in question could be argued as childish, but it's equally childish to say, "wellp, you can't play your games anymore" and then try to backpedal when it receives media attention by claiming it was some sort of computer error. A computer error that affected one person, which just happened to be that guy who said something bad about the game and company. Those crazy computers!
I usually don't really care about games or game companies enough to take real note of these sorts of things, but this particular experience with Dragon Age 2 has been something else. I've definitely thrown away my money and time on a lot of silly pursuits in my life, but Dragon Age 2 is just about the only one in recent memory I feel like I regret being invested in. I don't wish ill on Bioware or anything, I'm just surprised.
Buuut, this is a patch thread, I'm just one person, and I've already typed a whole bunch of serious words about it.
