- Cinematics are no longer distorted on certain standard-definition televisions.

For the love of god, thanks. :)))))))))))

This bug has totally RUINED my gaming experience. I plan now to start a new party without this devastating bug. Image IPB

Mass Effect 2 is a true RPG and Dragon Age II isn't? WTF? {face_laugh}

LoL, ya. Comparing DA2 to ME2, and saying DA2 is not really the "true RPG" is quite frankly just laughable.

Really did he say ME2 is a true rpg. That's funny cause it really isn't. It seems like they wanted to take DA2 in the direction of ME2 which is make it more action orientated and make it appeal to a lot of other people not just Rpg fans. In other words casual gamers.

So, is the "Epic Achievement" problem getting addressed in this patch at all?

I hope I am just being paranoid, but reading the list of fixes (the original one and the updated one) I am still very unclear as to whether the issue with flags not being read correctly from imported Origins/Awakenings saves has been addressed. As this has a direct effect on whether certain quests will trigger or not - not exactly a minor issue in my opnion - I had hoped it would be mentioned specifically on the "fix" list.

I guess I'll have to wait another week to find out!

Lol i was wondering the same thing

I'm HOPING that when they refer to "story scripting issues" that this is what they are talking about.  Can anyone at bioware confirm?

I have said all along there should have been a massive recall of this title as DEFECTIVE from the get-go, and to patch it will likely be as huge as the game on my HDD, it needs to be repaired- and replaced- completely.

Oh...I guess that is what an "Ultimate Edition" is for? I won't be buying ANYTHING BioWare nor EA (except Golf) EVER AGAIN on a pre-order. I waited 2 years for Origins. It was WORTH IT!!!!!

Good call - yes, a confirmation from Bioware just on this issue would be very welcome.  No specifics, just a confirmation that this is definitely one of the areas covered in the patch.  With the number of times people have posted on these forums frustrated with events not being recalled correctly from their previous Origins/Awakenings games (and the quests that aren't triggered as a result) I think it is safe to say that we aren't the only two people worried about this!

How about it Bioware?  Just a little heads-up pretty please?

UPDATE: Monday, April 11, 2010.

Hi everyone. I hope you had a good weekend. We're working with Valve right now on dotting the i's and crossing the t's for the Steam rollout. Based on our current estimates, we expect the 1.02 Patch to go live on PC/Mac sometime tomorrow (Tuesday, April 12).

On consoles, the 1.01 title update is progressing smoothly through final certification at Microsoft and Sony. No issues have been found and they're currently projecting release dates of sometime next week - we're working with them to see if we can pull those dates in any further.

Last Friday we discussed some of the universal fixes that we’ve made across all the platforms. Today we’re providing a high-level view of some of the platform-specific fixes that you can expect.

CONSOLES:
- The options menu now includes auto-attack.
- Armor values now adjust correctly when changing shields.
- Choosing a target at close range is now easier.
- Cinematics are no longer distorted on certain standard-definition televisions.
- Hawke no longer gains excessive coin and experience from rapidly and repeatedly completing a single sidequest.
- Various technical changes should improve performance, limit crashes, and address memory-related issues.

PC & MAC:
- Various issues specific to DirectX 11 no longer occur.
- It is now easier to select party members by clicking on their portraits when the level-up arrow is displayed.
- The game now functions correctly across different desktop sizes.
- The video options menu now allows a wider full-screen gamma range.
- Various technical changes should improve performance and limit crashes.
- We’ve improved our crash reporting and our ability to analyze those reports. If you’re still experiencing crashes, we encourage you to play logged in so we can identify and resolve your issues in the future.

This patch should address the bulk of the major issues that people are experiencing. We’re already hard at work on addressing further issues with our next patch and we’ll be setting up some specific threads in the various tech support forums to help capture any major issues that you’re still facing after these patches go live.

Mostly quoting this so it'll be on the next page. I wouldn't want anyone to miss it. ^^

Woo! Though I hope this will work for mine since it's about a decade old.

I'd also love to get confirmation that the patch fixes games in progress (i.e. removes the Isabela bug effect from a character already suffering from it), not just new games. I'll guess we'll find out when the release notes from the PC/Mac versions hits. And those users start reporting their experiences.

This right here is why I will not start a new game until it hits.

See on the one hand, I know it's out of Bioware's hands and so on, but another week? I've actually just stopped giving a toss about the game, my interest started rapidly waning when I wound up spoilering most of the game trying to find out why it was acting up, and my second playthrough that I managed to get enthused about by making different decisions screeched to a halt because of bugs. It'll be mid-may before I get a chance to play again, and I don't see me picking up my playthroughs after so long or getting excited about DLC.
I've enjoyed every BW game I've played, and am pretty forgiving of glitches in general, but they really screwed the pooch with this rushjob, people aren't going to remember all the good things about the game when they had to wait a month to see if their Hawke would be playable again.

Also this, if it doesn't then I'm not picking it up again, it's no fun slogging through something  to try and recreate a playthrough.

Not the most positive response from Luke on the PC owners patch update thread (http://social.biowar...93445/8#7037510):

Specifically, the import ones will likely be on a case by case basis. It all depends on where this issue is, be it the conversation pulling data improperly, or the flags not being set right in the first place.

That said, if you want to be 100% sure it will be accurate, start a new game.

As for the other changes, the high majority of them will work on the fly. Some, unfortunately, are already baked in to your saves and will require a fresh playthrough. Sorry :(

Now, he doesn't specify if this is applies to Maker's Breath or other passive ability bonus glitches.  If my first Hawke can at least fight at normal speed I can live with Merril's storyline having been turned inside out on that playthrough...

If it doesn't I imagine tills will be ringing with the sound of DA2 trade-ins. Few want to repeat 40-odd hours of game (or more if multiple plays were hit, like me) over an ability glitch.
