Wow, I'm happy that this patch is coming out finally but it's severely disappointing that issue with Isabela's friendship buff won't being fixed retroactively when it's released. I guess I was going to have to start over regardless due to having to miss Aveline's final armor upgrade and missing out on some conversations due to quests being out of order or missing.

Wish the buff had been something that didn't directly effect my character but rather just Isabela.

Luke mentioned "load back to before you started losing attack speed" so if you have multiple saves after the patch you can load to before the Isabella/Sebastian bug and avoid the problem? It seems that Luke is saying that the patch can fix previous saves affected by the bug, because didnt the bug mess up all saves? I know its not what people want to hear but hopefully you wont have to go to far back once this problem is solved.

Losing 60 hours because the patch isn't retroactive doesn't count as an actual patch to me.
I love your games but this is a masterclass on bumbling.
So now I wait for the next undisclosed amorphous patch date (Too busy on Dragon Age3 which you won't see any of my coin for).
I waited a month for what?
So I can start all over again?
I could've done that already dodging the paid for DLC and oh you know the games main bloody love interest!
Really shocking and honestly disheartening.
Thanks alot.

I just want to know if they will fix the issue with Hawke not having any voice during combat, Ive seen PC and Xbox and Hawke does talk during combat but PS3... nothing.
I cant begin to count the times I played with a Rogue Hawke and missed a trap because he said nothing.

Yes, me too.
Put only Hawke in the formation, beat some enemies and..........zero voice during combat, how sad!

UPDATE: Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

It looks like we're still waiting to hear back from Sony about when the title update can go live on the PS3. It's been going smoothly and they haven't reported any issues but current estimates are for early next week. In the meantime, I thought I’d take the opportunity to provide a deeper dive on what a couple of the patch notes actually mean.

“- The effects of various follower talents and item properties are now being properly removed and re-applied when loading and saving.”

Yeah, this one covers a lot of ground and had a wide range of symptoms. Some were quite subtle, others… not so much. In general, this covers a wide range of cases where the player’s stats were getting incremented or decremented more than they should. In some cases, such as Hawke’s combat speed, this would continue compounding every time you loaded a certain type of save. This bug, and the corresponding fix, are expected to behave the same on consoles as they do on PC/Mac. It’s important to note that this first patch focuses on preventing the issue from recurring or getting worse. For the next patch, we’re looking deeper into how to fully reverse the issue and restore normalcy in save games where the error has already occurred.

“- Various technical changes should improve performance, limit crashes, and address memory-related issues.”

On the X360 in particular, some players were experiencing issues such as missing textures or “unable to load area” messages, especially if they’d been playing the game for a long time in one sitting. Similar issues were occurring on the other platforms (including the PS3) but with less frequency. Memory and performance issues are complex beasts, of course, and we don’t want to say that we’ve eliminated these issues altogether but the patch does provide a lot of improvements and optimizations that will improve players' experience in that regard.

We're sorry that Title Update 1.01 won't be in your hands in time for the weekend but we look forward to getting it to you as soon as it's available.

Rob, I'm assuming that there's no fix for the Fool's Gold/Finding XXXXXX quests not triggering correctly? Can you acknowledge if you guys are aware of this issue and at least looking into it?

Edit: Also, thanks for the updates, even if they are not the news we had hoped for.

That particular quest is dependent on plotflag imports from Awakening which are currently not working as expected. You are able to get one of those two mentioned quests though right? (not necessarily the correct one, but one does appear)

So I have to decide whether to restart another mage, or just shelf the game till the next patch? That is not cool. I love the Dragon Age series and would like for them to become what Final Fantasy was. But this is not the way to do it.

Haven't made it to Act III yet to confirm, but I definitely got Fool's Gold, despite having "the character in question" alive at the end of Awakening, which I understand to be the necessary condition (in theory) for getting the other quest.

I think many of us encountering this bug would not have been as frustrated if the conditions were reversed, but those of us who played Awakening are eager for that interaction.

Was hoping to start playing again with the advent of the patch, but I guess there's no sense in starting a new playthrough if this bug is still a problem, unfortunately.

Thanks, as always, for the update, Luke.

Luke/Rob, would we be correct in assuming that the *majority* of freezing issues will be addressed with this patch? Area transitions are my only issue from playthrough.......

We believe so. Our consoles in house, for whatever reason, have very limited issues with this problem so it's hard to verify as much as we're comfortable with.

So no fix for the nathaniel problem then. It was the main reason I am waiting for this patch. It looks like I will shelf the game then until it is fixed. It is annoying that once of the choices made fails to work. It would be like killing Wrex in ME and he appears in ME2 completely fine. It is not on.

Can it be fixed retroactively or do you have to start again. Just off the top of your head.

Uh let me get this straight... not only are PS3 owners getting the patch late (yeah blame Sony all you want) but this patch ISN'T fixing the problems with Awakenings imports? Jeezus... so I STILL have to wait for another patch to start my new playthrough, because you know, importing our Origins 'world' into DA2 was one of the most significant things for most every person who played DAO.

What the hell, I am not happy... not happy AT ALL. To think I went out and bought DAO Ultimate Edition AGAIN on PS3 (as I already had DAO on PC) just to have a nice complete save to transfer into DA2. What a waste of my life... seriously, I hope you guys have learnt some lessons from this experience. I can only hope and pray you have, because if this happens with ME3 I am going to be taking that crap back and demanding a refund like the smart people did last month.

So PS3 users get the patch last, our transfers from DAO, it's DLC, and Awakening are still buggy, the Isabella/Sebastion problem will still exist - but I can go back to Act 1 since I got Isabella's trust early in Act 2, so I lose only 20 hours versus 40 - and there is no apology or recoup for all the loyal fans that pre-ordered, got the BIOWARE SIGNATURE edition, or bought the game early. But hey, at least we get this patch that does a decent job on minor - but many - bugs. It's not the fact that this patch took about a month, that it doesn't really take care of major issues, or that there are apparently so many bugs to fix that ticks me off. No it's the fact it affects the most loyal fans who pre-orderd or spent more money to get the signature edition or both more so than say Mr. I read a great review and saw that this game sold about 2 million copies in one month (thanks to the loyal fans of Bioware and the DA series) so I'll go buy it next month. Because by then, you'll have it fixed. Good job on releasing a buggy game that mostly affected your most loyal group of fans and released a patch that only kinda works a month after reports started coming in on major bug issues that said patch won't fix.

Hey Testoterohne, how long have we been waiting for that patch that will fix the Isabela/Sebastion bugged saves again?

i didn't play DA-A, but i was going to buy it this weekend and get me that import file, but i guess i have to put a hold on it, no point if t won't work...but that really should have been one of the issues this patch to fix.oh well, nothin to do but wait.

i hope it doesn't take long
