So PS3 users get the patch last, our transfers from DAO, it's DLC, and Awakening are still buggy, the Isabella/Sebastion problem will still exist - but I can go back to Act 1 since I got Isabella's trust early in Act 2, so I lose only 20 hours versus 40 - and there is no apology or recoup for all the loyal fans that pre-ordered, got the BIOWARE SIGNATURE edition, or bought the game early. But hey, at least we get this patch that does a decent job on minor - but many - bugs. It's not the fact that this patch took about a month, that it doesn't really take care of major issues, or that there are apparently so many bugs to fix that ticks me off. No it's the fact it affects the most loyal fans who pre-orderd or spent more money to get the signature edition or both more so than say Mr. I read a great review and saw that this game sold about 2 million copies in one month (thanks to the loyal fans of Bioware and the DA series) so I'll go buy it next month. Because by then, you'll have it fixed. Good job on releasing a buggy game that mostly affected your most loyal group of fans and released a patch that only kinda works a month after reports started coming in on major bug issues that said patch won't fix.
Hey Testoterohne, how long have we been waiting for that patch that will fix the Isabela/Sebastion bugged saves again?
I totally agree with you here. It's a disgrace that Bioware has decided to treat some of their most loyal customers as dirt. Instead of delaying the patch a week or two to get all currently known game breaking bugs out of the way they have chosen to only fix the issues that affect new players.
This is of course a very concious choise. Bioware is very much aware of all the overhead associated with every patch, both internal release management and the fact that Sony takes at least a couple of weeks to certify a patch. But they still decided against letting everybody wait a a a week or two extra and decided to let the loyal losers who bought the game straigt away (I also have the signature edition) to wait for an extra month or two. I haven't seen many appologies either...
Unless Bioware comes up with some serious compensation (I'm not talking a free "Return to Ostagar" sized DLC here) this is definitely my last Bioware game.

I won't be making the same mistake with ME3 no matter what review scores it gets. I'll be waiting a couple of months before going anywhere near it.
I think I will be joining you... the only annoyance is missing out on the pre-order bonuses. But I suspect it will be worth losing out if I can get the game half price a few months down the line already patched. *sigh*

At least they patch things quicker on that platform and at worst the great gaming community make their own patches when the game company's fail to do what's right and actually fix a buggy product.
I to will have to re-evaluate pre-ordering any EA/Bioware product in the future, Having said thay at least EA/Boiware have done 1 thing right for those who have a PC that is decent by giving away a copy of ME2 (PC version only) to anyone who bought DA2 new regardless of what system they bought it on

Stay tuned because somebodys got to do something Mister.

I don't see the problem here...either way you're gonna have to wait a couple of weeks to fix the other problems..but since they already have other fixes for the other problems then might as well upload them while they find a way to fix the other problems...either way, you won't get the fix now, but at least other people who won't use old saves can play...your problem is if you can't play it yet (with your old saves since you can play with one of the pre-rendered characters) then you don't want others to be able to play it.

Restart the game and play 70% of it all over again.
Wait another month or two (or three) for a patch that might or might not un-ruin my savegame.
Or shelve it until I might or might not ever get the itch again.
...
Shelved.
So long, thanks for the fish.

If you read my post, please point out to the part where I clearly state I want no one else to the play or enjoy the game. I just wanted to make a point that those of us who purchased the game early are getting the worst deal when we should be rewarded for showing faith and trust by buying the game early or buying the special edition or both. That reward is nothing special, all we wanted was a game that didn't have bugs that caused the game to virtually be unbearable to play, or force us to completely change or set-up/load outs of our character just to make him/her somewhat useful in the game. If a game comes out this buggy, the company did not do enough testing or double checking their work. Further more, they are dragging their feet when it comes to this patch. If you check the posts or the topic Testoterohne and I have been referencing, you'll see what our 'problem' is.
I have no problem with other users being saved from bugs that us early birds are experiencing. What I do have a problem with is that bioware has been getting feedback on certain game-breaking bugs that they are not yet fixing for users who shelled out extra cash or bought the game early. Typically the people who buy the special editions or pre-order tend to be people who have played the previous game in that serious or is a fan of the company (in this case Bioware/EA) from another series and expects another decent game w/out any game-breaking bugs. In other words, we are fans who've shown loyalty and faith by spending our hard earned money to make sure that said game and company are a success beacause we believe the game will be worth the extra squeeze. These said fans tend to be a loyal and trusting bunch and to have a game released that has so much potential, but even more problems here; well, to me at least, it seems that my faith was misplaced and I'm being punished for my loyalty by pre-ordering and buying the special edition, when I could have not bought the Special edition, not pre-ordered, not spend a good chunk of my time off, and would have benefited more so by simply waiting for this game to drop into the discount box.
As for a future fix, there is no guarantee that they will provide a fix for said game-breaking bugs for the saves already affected by the bug. In my case, and many others if you read this forum, that means going back to Act 1 if they still have those saves as the game limits how many saves you can make. Which means I have to replay a good chunk if not all of the game to get the full joy out of the game and let's face it, a lot of people want to play the whole game through before restarting it. I know I do since I want to see the consequesnces of my current set of choices and then see how it things turn out in my next playthrough by doing another set or slight change to my choices for a new character.
But that's just me and apparently a lot of others on this forum, otherwise their wouldn't be so many topics or posts on this site. Not to mention the fact that the only reason bioware is successful is due to us loyal consumers. If it weren't for us, the game wouldn't gain any buzz on it from the media or word of mouth; magazines and review web sites wouldn't cover it as much as say another game that had much more attention drawn to it due to pre-order sales or fans posting on forums, and then their profits would be seriously hurting. If the company's main profit came from those that come across the game later who haven't heard of the review via the media or word of mouth would buy it when the price goes down or decide to rent/borrow it, why would the Dragon Age site push so hard for pre-sales, special edition, or publish the release date? Bioware was one of those few companies that really listened to it's users by checking up on our feedback and adjusting it in the next patch or game. At least I believed that till now. So far, no apology, no patch, and no recourse for us early birds, special edition owners, or both. If they want us to stay faithful, they might want to get back to that idea.
Sorry for the long post, I have very little free time, and I tend to find I'm using it up on this forum rather than the game... Well you all see my 'lil' rant here

Well, my problem is that it is not just a matter of "uploading fixes for the other problems". Everytime you release software there is a lot of overhead (release management, packaging, testing, distributing, certification, etc.), some of which is not related to the size of the release. By breaking the fix into two (or more) the total time will be longer. Bioware could also have focused on fixing the game breakers instead of fixing 100+ annoyances. It's all a matter of priorities.Shadow Wing wrote...

I wrote most of this in my previous post so read the post and understand it before you flame me. If you don't understand then a polite question could solve that. My problem, is not that somebody might actually be able to play the game before me, my problem is that Bioware has actively chosen to delay the patch for loyal player who bought the game straight away to get it out quicker for new gamers.

Back on topic though, the only bugs I've come across in the game is Isabella's custome change, everything else works fine and dandy (except for the random anoyying freezes).
I've seen people complaining about their saves being affected after Awakening, I went through awakening and witch Hunt, and my play through in DA2 was perfectly fine. Everything revering to the warden and what he did in the past was correct. Maybe it's just me though.

You're probably just lucky and happened to play through Awakenings in exactly the way we decided would be default

So now BioWare sits in the same category as Obsidian. Wow, never thought that that would happen.*sigh*
It's just not worth it to lose hours upon hours of my time on release after release after release. Seriously, it's every single damn game now on every single damn platform. There's no avoiding it.

Disappointing is the word for it, no doubt. Are the import problems on the chopping block, at least, as far as things that need to be fixed in a future patch?

So the upcoming patch doesn't fix any of the import problems then? If that's the case I guess I'll have to delay playing the game even longer (even though I pre-ordered and picked the thing up on day one). I've got no desire to play it through once and possibly get buggy results, and then have to play it again after a fix to get a game I can import into yet another game further down the line.

to be honest man i saw no change or anything good from importing it just play the game with default it is fun to play :DB)
