This may prevent me from getting Windows 7. Though I do have black friends, I prefer to keep my games supremist oriented.

HAHA, Dont silly. Although when I first noticed this it happened in Denerium. I thought the whole town was Black. When I saved and quit and came back later to play the issue was gone. The problem goes away once you restart the game or reload. I think its a permission issue where a certain file cant load of something. If it happens just reload.

Sounds more like a graphical issue. I highly doubt W7 has anything to do with that. At least with the information provided.

Running Win 7 x64 Ultimate on a quad core machine with 8 GB of memory and an ATI 4890 videocard and not seen any problems. Nice thing about Win 7x64 is it really allows you to make full use of multi-core systems and larger amounts of memory. You will appreciate it not only with DAO , but with photo shop, DVD ripping, multi-tasking and just about anything else you want to do on your computer thats ranking above Twitter.

Well here are my specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 @ 2.66ghz
4gb DDR2 Ram
ATI Radeon HD4850 512mb
I know my RAM will be taken advantage of more, but will Windows 7 really have a beneficial effect on DA:O, or will it just remain the same (which I am fine with)?

No problems here. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. With the exception of the video, I have nearly the same system.

Using Windows 7 64 bit and seems to run fine. I do have a problem with not being able to capture screenshots with print screen all the time but not sure if that's Windows related.

Ran the game initially with Vista x64, before installing it on the 7 x64 drive. Performance is better under the Win 7 OS and in my opinion the graphics look better, as well.

Only issue I've had thus far is frequent disconnects from the DA:O server. From what I've read, this appears to be an idiot mistake on Microsoft's part, however. Apparently they put a ridiculously low cap on the number of 'half open connections' you can have, which tends to completely shut down your LAN port.
Allegedly there's a workaround that lets you set the number to a more realistic cap (rather than the 10 MS predetermined for you...) so that you can actually have a browser open streaming music, etc.. without losing your 'net connection.
Beyond that retard move by the lemmings in Redmond, DA:O runs well on Win7, at least for me.

Many people are having extremely bad problems with DAO (only DAO) on Win7 64-bit installations.
Most of us got very far through the game without seeing any problems at all, but then the problems started intermittently. The only problems I've seen have been during cutscenes that are automatically triggered after a battle. I cannot pin down the cause, but I can copy the save game over to my XP32 setup, get past that part, then copy the new save back to Win7 64-bit to keep playing as normal. Then, I'll go pretty far again before seeing the problem crop back up again.
Most people who will tell you that there are no problems have possibly just not gotten far enough to run into them yet. Either that, or there are a few relatively high-end configurations that are specifically affected by some unknown issue.
I'm running an X48 chipset system with a QX9650 CPU and a Radeon HD 5870 card. I have all the latest drivers and updates, yet I still run into this problem. The core affinity "fix" seemed to help the first time the problem occurred, but not the second time.
My recommendation is, if you want to upgrade to Win7, that you get a brand new HDD to install Win7 on. That way, you can choose which HDD to boot to if you run into problems.

Before yo upgrade check to see if here are drivers made for your hardware. Vista 64 can be ussed in 99% of the time, but you'll always see that your that 1%.
DAO run perfect o my win 7 64bit. only having a problem with my GPU overheating my SPU >..<

No issues with Win 7 Ultimate, with DA:O or any other game I have gotten around to installing. If you check my signiture, I have no where near a "highend" system, maybe a year and a half ago. I am also about 90% done with the game and have 65+ logged hours.
