Jennifer Helper, the BioWare writer who wrote Anders in Dragon Age II, has written a new short-story to give you some insite into Anders' character.

You can read the new Anders short Story on Anders' character page.

Is there meant to be a second up? I'm only seeing the old one from back when the LIs were announced.

I don't think the story was ever properly linked to his page on the website, was just viewable on the thread on the forums.

This short story failed in convincing me that this character is anything other than a completely different person with the name Anders lazily slapped on. One of my main problems with Dragon Age II.

No amount of backstory involving Vigil's Keep and Justice will change that.

When I think of the Anders I know, I think of the funny Greg Ellis character from Awakening. Not this other person voiced by Adam Howden.

I don't care what they did - or what you say.

He'll never make it out of my DA2 alive.

Some players just love to do one thing in a game... kill. For those players killing Anders, and anyone else that's allowed in the game is the highlight of their day. : (

On the contrary I hate killing. My builds have traditionally maxed out persuade / charisma etc first in the hope I could get through a game with minimal / zero killing.

Anders though - I'll make an exception...not because it's the highlight of my day....but because he is an abomination..in both a literal and metaphorical sense.

Some people take this game way too personal...

You hate me because I am a mage, right?

lol :pinched:

And for the record, I won't have that particular ending again, having *done* it once.  It fits too perfectly in a demons plans.  The living are easier to keep reigned in, than a martyr's legacy.  I won't feed the beast.

Oh it's just the same introductory story? Haha, I was expecting a story trying to somehow justify what he did at the end of the game so that people would stop hating him. xD

No offense but this is really your fault. Of course the walking abomination with hate for antimages, feuled by a spirit of Justice twisted Vengeance is a totally different person. Anders became a totally different person, and in truth he's really just "Vengeance". If you can't accept how lore works, that's not really a short story's fault for your failure to comprehend or accept.

I liked, it helps you understand Anders change when he and Justice combined. It also re-explains that He and Justice are now literally one person; from thoughts to body.

How is it his fault exactly? Combinding the two was just another way of remaking another character we already knew.

Yea I kill him every time, so he has no purpose for me anymore.

He kills all those people, so killing him is the right choice.

Please drop this character from future DLC.

Hawke spends the entire game killing assh*les.

Anders blows up a bunch of assh*les in the end.

If you sentence him to death, shouldn´t your Hawke commit suicide?

I felt so horrible when I shanked him on my pro-Templar playthrough. He was an acquaintance to Hawke and a good friend to my Warden. So it was... damn, I'm tearing up again. BUT DAMMIT ANDERS...
