I went to the help chat and asked about the DLC problems.  They told me that they were aware of the problem, working on it, and recommended that we try to play again in 24 to 48 hours.

Thanks for that anyway.
Bad time for the issue to pop up, a possible weekend.
Then it's not our weekend being spent trying to solve it, I'm going to sleep happily at that.

I guess they assume we have lives aside from the one in the game...

I don't know why it happened, but it's a silly thing TO happen. I mean, one can expect random server issues in an MMO, but for a stand-alone game? Whoever had the idea of linking the game to some kind of authorization server should be demoted to mail-room cleaner.

I agree with spoe71. I have Ultimate Edition and the game is fun, but this authorization stuff is just bad. Can't even play the game without the downloadable content once started Origins. At least Blizzard and starcraft allow playing offline.

i didn't know anyone else was having this problem, so 7+ hours ago i talked to a tech for an hour, uninstalled, reinstalled, still not working, etc etc... finally found this:

"Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor.
Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".
"
from this old(er) thread: http://social.biowar.../index/416923/2

and i can PLAY!! :D i hope i can keep playing for a while.... (last week a different tech had to manually authorize the DLC on my account - wish i'd found this answer earlier.. /sigh)

but i totally agree with spoe71 & ecpyun. i HATE this pseudo-DRM crap that only frustrates people who have legitimately paid for the game. i can't tell you how much time i've spent trying to get this DLC to work.

anyway - hope this helps someone else!

Careful, that has some wonky side-effects. I did that about a half hour ago, and it let me load my saved-games, but all my DLC items like Battledress, Helm of Honnleath, and Vestments of the Seer were gone.

*shudder*

I saw Wynne in her undies...

So, this is not just happening to me... I actually feel better about that. I'll just keep playing logged out then for a bit. It's a bit frustrating.
@Steelrose0, that worked for most of my DLC, but strangely not for Leliana's Song or Witch Hunt. I'll just keep playing offline =/
Thanks, OP, for letting the rest of us know what's going on. I totally appreciate it.

I dunno, I think Ubisoft holds the title for most ridiculous DRM debacles with their permanent internet connection requirement in Assassin's Creed II.

Strange, I still have the Battledress and the Vestments of the Seer.

Yeah...it let me play my saved game, but Alister was nekkid...not a good look for him ~shudders~

Perhaps OS vrersion has an effect on whether or not the actual DLC is there...

I didn't even need to do that. Just logged out, exited and booted up the game again. Works if you're not logged into your account it seems.

Why wasn't this system designed for high availability? I didn't expect something so unprofessional from BioWare.

it's just ridiculous that they have not post a message on the social network to inform people of the problem, i have try for around 5 hours to solve the problem on my side, i even reinstall the game, now my DLC are not installed because of this, and there is nothing i can do to reinstall them all before they solve the problem... can't play at all :(
well, if at least i have know this before.

the actual problem with server dont frustrate me, this kind of thing can happen, but the fact that they have done nothing to inform people is unprofessional and unacceptable.

Spent several hours today and yesterday trying to get my game to work with all available information on the forums. Zero results. Still can't play. Starting to get the idea the problem is not on my side.

Fix the problem properly, by letting us confirm we bought it once and no longer have to phone home everytime!
