Anybody who's gotten the $20 coupon happen to be using a Steam copy of the game? I can't help but think I might be out of luck in such a case... oh, and on an upside, for the rest of the month of April, if you've bought DA2, you get a free copy of ME2 if you don't already own it. After this, I'm actually wary of trying to redeem this offer...

Yeah, imagine that, Bioware. You screw up royally, remain stoically silent about it and your customers hesitate at FREE STUFF! Some moderator get on the forum, already!!!

I have the Steam UE, and I did get the coupon. (I also have other non-Steam versions), but I don't think that is an issue. It's random and arbitrarily depends on what you tell the rep.

Off to bed with me. Hopefully this'll be resolved tomorrow by the time I get back from work. Good luck holding down the fort!

i just got back from work from a crappy monday and found that this isn't resolved yet? just great. sucks to be living at GMT +8 hours when the whole ea operation functions at the opposite side of the world.

Let's assume that RedundantCookie is right, and the IT-people only started to solve the problem this monday morning. This just made me wonder... if the bioware servers in question are physically located in west-coast US, then IT would commence their work about now. However, as it is 2:30 PM where I live (and thus it have been Monday for quite some time) I probably should not expect a solution until Tuesday. Baahh, nevermind, this is pure speculation anyway.

(not actually in bed yet, but I'll get there eventually) I had an earlier post about how living in Japan causes the same kinds of problems, especially when PSN does their weekly updates. But I guess the big companies would rather appease most of their customers and inconvenience the rest when choosing a time to do updates and maintinance.
 Hang in there, buddy.

Eastern or Western US quite probably. And Redundant Cookie is quite probably right. But who knows, she's just an Inedible Cookie after all. But a guess is better than none! (At least fun, if not right).

GAH! Still. I guess there's nothing for me to do but work. And post here, evidently.

If it's any consolation, it sucks living in EST right now, too.  EA isn't time-zone biased when it comes to giving their customers the shaft.

I wonder, is there a means to check on the server remotely? A link to show if the authentication server is up or down?

I had asked about that and the answer I got was no. Not available for the public to view. I suggested in a follow-up survey that they may want to add tha kind of thing, but I don't even know if those are read.

In another thread another member seems to have success, claiming the servers may be up.

Granted, you posted there as well. I'm not at home so I can't confirm or deny. Perhaps someone else can.

This is horrible.

So we have 19 pages of people having problems but no official Bioware Rep coming here?

I remember when Bioware meant good customer service. Just because EA bought them shouldn't mean they should allow their name brand to be tarnished in this way.

My computer got fried. I have to reinstall and download everything. Was in the middle of grabbing DLCs when this happened - I was playing with some DLCs installed and others awaiting download when this hit me. So - I dont have access to all my stuff (I have Deluxe Digital Edition redeemed through EA Downloader) nor access to all my DLCs.

Bioware: I really hope someone is here reading this forum. No matter what your consumer base shouldnt be ignored. Between the issues with Dragon Age 2 and the fiasco of giving Mass Effect 2 for free to people who more than likely already own Mass Effect (dont know about anyone else but I buy BioWare Games because I like their games and I cant think of a game they have that I dont own or have at least played)

This is just sad, and really hoping it gets fixed by tonight.

Knowing my luck I'll break something.

I just want to note, this just happened:

Simon: Hi, my name is Simon. How may I help you?
2250803479: Hi Simon
2250803479: So the Dragon Age Origins authentication servers have been down for the entire weekend
2250803479: Last week, I was happily playing DAO, as I finally built a computer really capable of running. I purchased it when it first came out, never got into it. Last Friday, I decided to go out and get the Ultimate Edition, buying the game for a second time simply to get the additional content
Simon has disconnected.

I may very well never buy an EA game again after this. Companies like EA wonder why PC gamers pirate their games, and this is precisely why. If they don't give people the shaft constantly, we'll be much more likely to support them.

That is absolutely shocking! Hmmm... Maybe his personal authentication server was down... "Sorry, Bull**** Not Authorized.. please ensure you are logged into your EA account to authorize paying-customer bull****...  Alternatively, you may disconnect and not try again later".

.... Simon has disconnected.

I know it's tempting to fiddle... but I think you're correct-- best to leave it be, wait, and don't break anything.

I honestly think that was an accident on Simon's part or a tech glitch.
I talked to the same rep earlier this morning and he was the first one to be realistic about the issue and not try to give me a bunch of work-arounds that seem to be doing more harm than good.

Considering this highly entertaining fiasco, I believe I shall be happy to keep my no-avatar avatar for the remainder of all my activities on this forum. It's like looking into a mirror. Most striking. I just wished I was that square-jawed in reality too.

Well, at my time zone it's almost 6 PM. And the authorization is still offline.

Just trolling reporting.

I suggest all of you go over onto their Dragon Age facebook page and post onto their wall what is going on.

Plaster all of their comments and wall with what is going on. Go to the EA page as well.

Maybe if we make a media enough storm someone will step up and help

I really think that's definately overreaction and a bit of wishful thinking :)
